Bluesky is a ******! Oh wait, what did I want to say....

4.6 Million Years = Earth Life
Modern Man = maybe 3000 years

To the person that can "think outside the box" do you think that anything we do in our lifetime will have an impact on earths future? No way.

Humans on earth are like the microscopic organisms on your skin that make you itch. Sometime the earth is going to need to scratch!

Over, but definately not out!

5thgearpinned…… I have to both agree and disagree with you. I agree that BlueShy is nothing more than a spineless inbreed. I also agree that our exhistance on this earth is nothing more than a wink of time. I disagree that we have an impact of the earth’s future. Not necessary hundreds to million years away, but we DO have an effect on the earth as we would hope to see it for at least the next few generations of our families.

This issue of “endangered” plants, among acres and acres of desert. Issues like these really are not environmental issues. They are nothing but political agendas, by a group of people that don’t have the guts, or ability to fight big builders and politicians.

If an individual really, and I mean truly is an environmentalist, then they will address problems that effect our day to day lives. Issues that have a short term (like 3-4 generations of human life) are ignored, and focus is placed on a trivial item as this plant. We have issues of water shortages, and pollution of toxins in our ground water. We are a country that has the technology to handle our own trash, (the construction of methane plants. Methane could reduce or eliminate much of the crude oil) but refuse. I could go on and on with 100’s of topics that actually have an impact of our earth. So what happens, politicians propose a bill that catch the attention of the public, get people focused on issues away from real issues. (political smoke screening)

Blue, I always look forward to your cowardly, meaningless replies. Maybe you are one of these individuals that is illegally dumping toxins, and belly-ache about saving one (1) species of plant. If “Mother Nature” wants that plant to survive, it will. Off roaders or no off roaders.

Actually, "modern man" is much older than 3000 years. I'm assuming you're speaking of the homo sapien. There is evidence of us (as a specie) almost 100,000 years.
Still, compared to the 4.6 billion years of existence of this rock we're on, it ain't very long, something like less than 2%.

No Washroad, you've got it all wrong. Those guys 100,000 years ago weren't the same species. The eco-greenies will tell you that their DNA was a hair off so obviously, early man destroyed the enviroment and caused himself to go extinct. :rolleyes

I agree humans can have an short-term effect on the earth, but when we are long gone (and it will happen) the earth will rebuild itself and rebound in the blink of an eye. In geologic time that is.

I am a consulting Hydrologist for an engineering company in Phoenix and it is so funny all of these laws that are in the books that make companies spend MILLIONS of dollars opening water treatment plants to treat contaminated groundwater. We will never totally clean up contaminated sites, it is going to be there forever. Mother earth will someday treat it herself.

But hey, it's keeping me employed.

My point is that all of these so called "Environmentalist" spend their whole lives working for a cause that helps no one. Oh, we must save the Mexican Spotted Owl. Boo Hoo. If they want to do something that would make a difference try converting salt water to fresh water for a reasonable price. This will help mankind persevere when a 100-500 year drought comes. Not trying to save some worthless little plant in the middle of some F'n sand dunes. Get a life.
