Everyone has their different opinions on funco buggies and sidewinder buggies and so on. Which manufacturer do you think is the best of standard travel, mid-travel, and Long Travel rails?? The builders can be local or nation wide..... post photos and any experience you've had with the rails.
Personally i like funco rails. I like the way the Hustler IV looks like, i don't really care for the 5 seater made by funco. I like chenowth frames with VW or Subaru motors.

Well, allthough I dont currently own one, I have always thought that Sand Cars Unlimited makes the best cars. I always liked the looks and craftsmanship of Dons cars above any other car. Thats not to say others arent great, I just like them best. Someday if and when I out grow my current car, I would absolutly put one on top of my list.
In my case now, for quality and price, I went with a Xtreme Motorsports Racer.
I have no complains with my current car so dont take this post the wrong way.
Allthough I may perfer a Bently, I took the Cadillac.

Earlier this month in St. Anthony's, I gave a guy (who has a Hustler IV on order) a 2 hour ride in my Gen 3 Big 5 Funco. After the ride, he was so impressed with the handling of the Big 5 that he said that he would call Grant and change his order.

Most manufactuers slip up once in awhile and produce a lemon. With Playtech they produce nothing but lemons, but every once in a while they slip up and produce something good. You must be one of the very few lucky ones.

This is a tough one...
St. travel- Mid travel I would say that the older SCU frames look the nicest. New its tough...they all look very similair.
LT..... well, those Racer cars are just Bad A** lookin mochines for sure. But I gotta say the big 5 is a bitchin car as well...
But I would have to go with John @ outbacks new green machine (SCU?). That thing looks fast even sittin still.

lots of great new builders 2nd would be a racer it just looks bad a$$,then a tatum dual sport, then possibly a scu,but i have only experienced a few cars and safety comes 1st and from what i personally seen doing multiple end over ends and the driver gettin out and brushin sand off,1st choice revenge racing predator!, just to many new builders and not enough have proven to be worthy of owning, remeber this is my .02.

I definately think lots of great expereinced builders out there putting out good cars, but there are only a few putting out great cars....I am on my third car...first being Chenowth exp..nice car....2nd car Playtech...oh did I really admit to that...and the current car is a Sandwinder which is awesome...I think he builds a great car plus changing with the times with his new venom chasis and his race car shows that he is actually racing and building these cars...just my .02

A guy got lucky and was at the right place at the right time and snagged an X-5

There are alot of nice cars and one of my fav's have always been Alumicraft. I almost pulled the trigger on a Allstar car then found the Buckshot I bought. I came up from a standard travel 2 seat high jumper with a single port 1600 to a mid travel chenowth 2332 turbo and now the X-5. After two trips to the dunes in the new car I have found there is no substitute for lots of travel and the torque of a v8.

I dont have a second choice for a car. In my opinion just like everyone else has theirs, I own what I think is the best car on the market. A Predator by Revenge Racing, I will never own another make of car. Justin definately went through the ringer with my current ride, and I will ONLY go back to him IF I decide to get another car. Its a tough choice between a Sidewinder and a Predator, but it sure would be nice to not have to change tires to get it in the trailer.

Wouldn't it be interesting to read a Sandcar Consumer Report? Or, how about someone on the board organize this next season and have the results published in Sand Sports spring edition? This would be enough data to fill a whole issue of Sand Sports.
We could pick 10 drivers that have 10+yr duning experience and put them in 10 of the top 4-5 seater cars, provided by manufacturers who wish to particpate. Spend a full weekend driving these cars (5 cars per day for each driver) in a 1hr dune ride for each car, duning together, leaders take turns. Then have each driver judge each car via voice recorder (many drivers don't like writing) immediately after each trip get the driver's fresh first hand opinion on these categories:
Motor performance, reponsiveness
Car handling, forgiveness, suspension, rigidity, squeaks, etc.
Safety features
Ergonomics (the logistics of how the car is layed out), comfort, style.
Ease of service (how easy is it to get to the battery, fill the gas tank, clean the oil filter, drink cooler, etc)
Overall fit and finish (appearance quality)
......then include other facts like:
Dimensions, OD width, length, height
Weight, plus weight bias front to rear.
Cost, as driven in the sand
Reputation and reliability (this is subjective to owner input)
Each driver should state what they personally own, so readers would know if they had a bias.
The idea is to produce non-biased opinions of the cars. Many drivers are loyal to their cars, so they're proud of their car (unless it's a Playtech of course). But that doesn't mean they have driven all the other cars to experience what else is out there. If we had unrelated individuals giving separate opinions, that may show a pattern that could be valuable for someone getting ready to spend $50-75K. I think this would be an interesting read.

Std to mid,I would go Chenowth with turbo subi.
LT,boy thats tough.Im biased because I think my model Quicksand(especially mine) is the most beautiful car Ive seen.I love the lines and styling, the tin work, the way it handles and performs, everything.Gives me a pudgy everytime

.My first choice in a frame for several yrs.
Second to it I love the two seat mid engine Predator cars.
After that its open,Suspensions Unlimited,Tatum Spyder, Sandwinder, Amplified, Racer two seat mids.
Funco Hustlers and Elite two seat rear with turbo subi are pretty sick as well.

Paradise, sorry about no mention of the Alumnis, I was only commenting on ones I have seen in detail and ridden in or around to see how they perform.Only seen one two seat rear subi Alumni, nice build, very good construction, but he was parked and never saw him run it. Im a big mid engine fan, especially V8 ones..Dont care for the 4seat v8 rear engines, mostly cuz I dont care to wheelie and dont like how the rear of those cars feel when power sliding. My personal preference.First car was a Sand sprite 6 mid with an efi 2180.It weighed 900lbs and was pretty fast.No travel of course.Had to upgrade to LT after a ride in a v8 mid engine predator.I always liked the look of the Quicksand mid v-8 car first and foremost.Got a chance to ride in one and check it out real good and was set on getting one.Now I ve got one and couldnt be happier.

Would like to see some pics of your ride.
