I read a article about the new z. It is going to be wider and lower to the ground than the other 450. It also has FI. The exhaust is said to be the most trick factory exhaust ever. As for the suspension the factory riders are going to run stock a-arms,swing arm and shocks for races no aftermarket. It is also electric start. Basically they stepped it up in evey aspect of the other 450s out there.
Dunegoat
I'll believe it when I see it. There have been rumors floating around for two years.

But it sounds nice
ChuckZilla
I heard FI but no e-start.

They said it will be racing in the 06 season so it is still a little away from be produced. Suzuki is the number #1 producer of efi so it was just a matter of time before they put it on a sport quad. They said the battery is in a place that has never been seen so i take that as it having electric start. All this info is susposed to be from a Suzuki insider. I

I saw some pics and a brief write-up in some mag last month...sounds like a killer bike. I still wub.gif my two-smoke. icon_biggrin.gif

Okay here is what the article said Team Riders Jeremiah Jones and Gust Will race it will stock a arms, shocks and swingarm. Why? Because each item is going to be built to full race specs. Right off the showroom floor, this machine will look like it has been decked out with aftermarket suspension components. It will be equipped with wide, long travel front a arms and get this a chromoly swingarm.
The bike also has a quick release for the light to put a number plate.
Gust said of the new bike suspension and other parts that it exceed his winning z of 04. They(suzuki) started this bike with the idea to blow everyone out of the water and to exceed the 04 championship winning bike.

Sounds like a good quad for racing in the woods or whatever they do in those hillbilly towns. What about for duning? What's the pricetag?
G1500
"built to full race specs. Right off the showroom floor"

its gonna be like 15 grand
BaNsHeE350
well seeing how a good frontend setup (arms, shocks, stem) can easily run over $4,000, it will be expensive

and if the quad riders start ditching the aftermarket which kept the sport going for 10 years plus when the factories ducked quad riders, then the sport is losing its roots to me

Good point.
I wonder if they fabricated their own stuff or went out and had someone or a company make it.

Isn't that what Cannondale claimed when they came out with their quad a few years ago also?
BaNsHeE350
and it cost 12 grand or so and still wasn't truely 'race' ready
Bansh88
I was thinking the same Cannondale comparison. Lot of bike/Lot of price. Most people buying quads don't want/need top of the line race bike. Much less want to pay for it!

Sounds like a lot of crap anyhow. Probably have piggyback resevoirs and that's it.
BaNsHeE350
i might have a different idea of what a race ready quad is than most people, but i know it costs alot to build one. and thats more than the average weekend warrior wants to spend

I think what they mean buy race ready is that the average joe wont need to put thousands and thousands of dollars in his quad to go to a local track and race. Kind of like the Subaru STI yeah you can race it but is it going to win a rally i think not. Yes the real hardcore race quads out there have tons and tons of aftermarket s*** that nobody has but those are pros and thats what they do for a living. You can always spend more money on something. When Suzuki changes the suspension it is not going to cost 4,000 dollar per bike. It might cost them a thousand dollars but if we tried the same it would cost us 4,000(thats the benefit of being a large corp think of it like if you buy one beer it will cost alot more than if you buy a 12 pack). So if you add the thousand or more to the price of a z-400 it would probally be around the 7,000-7,500. They are just trying to two up yamaha and honda. We will wait and see it should be coming out for the next year 06 according to quad magazine.

My insiders have told me about a new two stroke twin coming out in the next year or two. Motor will be detuned for 50hp... 350 pounds... fuel injected. With pipes and a few other minor things it is said to have 100hp on gas. To me it's another believe it when I see it at the hill.

The rumor of Suzuki coming out with FI has been on going for a couple of years. I heard every machine they produce was going to be getting FI.

I thought CA wouldn't allow anymore new two strokes after 06. Yes Suzuki is the #1 producer in efi and it is just a matter of time before all of them have it. I was in the mountains last weekend and man I sure could of used EFI.

SHOCKER
Is that your bike and are those the fox airshocks on the front? How do you like the shocks, do they make a rear shock to? Just wonderinf because i see you have a stock shock on there and not a fox airshock, if they make them for the rear.

yes it's my bike. The front shocks are the Fox air shocks after I played with them a bit to figure out the presure to run them at I'm liking them. They just released a rear shock I want to get it and they also released a new front air shock Full Blown race series I'm thinking about getting that. But I'd have to sell my current air shocks.

Have you had any other aftrmaret shocks? If so how do they compare?

There is going to be a test in the quad magazine of the z450. it is pictured on the cover and it looks sweet. It looks like an aftermarket bike. The is a small picture on the quad magazine order form on the internet. It not vey big but you can definetly tell its the new z. I tried to post a link with no luck but check it out.
Man I can't wait till the magazine comes out!!!

QuadMagazine.com. It was the order form for the magazine but on the right of the page there is a magazine cover with the picture. Its not a very big picture but you can still see the Z450. It is going to be in the next magazine which comes out in a month or so.
SHOCKER
I dont see it, i just saw the mag on he left side of the page. If its the same cover we are looking at there is a pic of a yellow Z with a silver hood and then under it htere is a utility quad. Except the quad that is on the cover is a Z400 with a tag front bumper and elka shocks and a silver hood.

Just got done riding the new Raptor 700R prototype for two weeks and it's pretty quick.

I'd still rather have a yfz450 though. it was too much bike for me but i managed, just don't like all the body roll and how top heavy the 700 is.

I am looking at the same page and i thought it was the new z450 but you are now that i look at a little closer i can see the elka shocks. Sorry to get your hopes up SHOCKER. The article last month said it will look like it has a whole host of aftermarket parts but they will be stock. It said it was going to have a test or pictures of the new z in the magazine. I thought it was it on the cover page because the raptor 700 was on last months cover page so i figure it was the new cover page since the magazine first issue was the raptor 700. The magazine will be out soon so we will just have to wait.

Little bit different throttle response and a different power curve. 1st and 2nd gear are pretty much useless, third gear will pull mostly anything.

The EFI is pretty sweet especially when riding 5,000' and then 3 days later riding 1500' and not having to mess with jets or adjustments.
