I agree. The pictures are cool. But why not put the address in the bottom corner if it has to be there at all?

So peeps don't steal his work. Very common. He put it on the corner, they can crop it out. Harder to do in the middle.

Sounds like he is a pro that will be selling the photos.

The 'watermark' is needed so people don't 'borrow' his pic's. This happens to me a lot and it's fustrating to say the least (*cough AMP Perf*).

All my future pic's will have the watermark in the center to prevent people and companies from 'borrowing' them.

The CBD used one of my Sand Mountain blue butterfly pictures (without my permission) in their petition to have it listed as endangered

. So, I ended up adding a watermark on my newer pictures. A few months back I actually had someone from the CBD contact me about using a picture I took for their annual report. They asked if I could remove the watermark for them.

My response back was

Come on Mike, you make it sound like AMPLIPHIED PERFORMANCE was the first company to "borrow" your pictures without your consent...

As much as I dont like the watermarks, I do think they are much needed to protect the professionals who take the pictures.
Thus you will proababy never see any of my Glamis video on the internet.

Tom-not the 1st but the latest and they don't answer e-mails.

Sorry to point out them specifically but as a photographer I need to do what I can to protect my intrests.

Pictures are a product. Just like video is a product, and a buggy is a product.

Anyone can enjoy looking at them, but that does not give them the right to take it and use it for their own purpose. If you dont like the way it looks in the picture because the color is wrong(buggy) or the water mark is in the way (picture,video) buy it and change the color or remove the watermark.

I have to say, as much as nobody likes Quicksand sandrails that rail held up really well considering the pic's of the crash. Just my .02
