glamis freak
i have a built 460 bb ford, and was tossing the idea of putting it in a longtravel rail.i plan on running bypasses all around and a mendi trans. do you think the weight would make a big difference from a small blk motor
Bouncertime
Depends on the size of the buggy and how much torque you are putting out.
FLYIN RYAN
mendi 25bangin.gif i see alot of transaxle problems behind that motor

Yes it will work. With a big block though your talking major torque. That means S4 mendeola at very minimum. I'd put a Fortin in it and wouldn't worry about it for 4 or 5 seasons.

Perfect example is the racer sandcar. Call them for real world info.

Big block=V-8 Rail...............wouldn't even think twice about. Why spend $20K on the trans when you don't have to. How much does the trans and rear end in a V-8 rail cost together? Anyone know?

thanks for the plug icon_wink.gif

our Full manual pro comp trans, custom 10" Torque Converter and the Quick Change rear end add up a little too icon_uhoh.gif
...but its still way less then a transaxle of the same strenght (if there would be one icon_biggrin.gif )

I have a blown big block in a mid engine two seat LT car now that works great and I am really excited to get my four seater done with BBC rear engine. This season is going to rock. headbang.gif dude.gif

Honest opinion: icon_wink.gif
you have to be a very good driver.
im not talking about fast...you have to be very controlled monkeedance2.gif
if you eff up ,something has to give shocker.gif
i was driving Flyin Ryans 521 cid BBF at Dumont: the torque is just sweeeet for duning, the sound is music to my ears dude.gif .... but i know if i push it, i start making errors , errors i get away with on a small block with his lighter rotating mass and torque ...but not on a BB like that grenade.gif

PM Flyin Ryan; i know he will give you his (non sugar coated) opinion icon_wink.gif

I am running a two speed powerglide built by ATI in the blown mid-engine car. It will handle up to about 2500 HP. I am trying to decide between a Fortin 5 speed sequential and Mendeola S4D for the new rear engine car. The new Mendi has an eleven and a half inch ring gear. Pretty beefy! Got to decide in the next two weeks.

091 is plenty if you never start the thing icon_biggrin.gif
