I was thinking about ol' Mr. PMV and had an idea???? The dunes are closed because of this plant...Does everybody know what this plant looks like in it's bloom stage, dormant stage? I really only know what it looks like because of Slappy posting pics of the PMV.

So, could somebody post some pics of what this plant looks like in all it's stages? Then the masses would know what it looks like and avoid it! Maybe us duners can print out pics of it and show uninformed people in our camps what it looks like so everyone would know...this way it can be avoided, admired and flourish......and we can have our dunes back!

Just an idea???

These are "in bloom" pictures, but better than nothing. From Easter 2001.

Sweet pics Poiks....looks like in your favorite pic they are doing quite well...LOL..endangered???

Everybody should print those out and show them around to people in your camps.

They were EVERYWHERE that Easter. Beautiful. Lots of other flowers in bloom, too. Here are a couple more:

What are the plants w/ the white flowers???

Were those pics in an open area?
Poiks
All of the pics were in open riding area on the southern end of the dunes, between Test Hill and Patton Valley. It was amazing-- I don't know what kind of plants the white flowers are, though.

It was very difficult for me to believe, after that trip, that people still want to make others believe that OHV's and flora cannot coexist. Don't forget--this is March after a full season of OHV use in the dunes.

Oh, come on now Poiks! Everyone knows that plants and OHV's cant coexist. [Wink] These photos must be fakes! [Wink] But really, nice pics, it really is beautiful out there isn't it. [Big Grin]

That ain't nothing. You should see some of the big fields of MilkVetch out there. There's one near Buttercup the ASA took the Yuma Sun's reporter too. He had been siding more towards the CBD and had just gone on their hike and felt betrayed that there were such large fields of the plant yet the CBD took him on a hike to find only a few dozen plants.

After talking to him about the hike they took him on and looking at the map it looks like they planned their hike to very carefully thread inbetween two of the largest concentrations of PMV in a way that ensured the hikers would only see a few of them and not the thousands of them that were flourishing just a few dunes away.

Those White flowers look like Dune Evening Primrose (An answer to a Slappy riddle last year):

My personal favorite plant is the "Dune Sunflower" which some groups are also trying to get listed as endangered. But in March it's hard to NOT find them around Buttercup. Really cool little yellow flowers with a black center that live in low spots at the base of some dunes. There are some photos of it here:

If those pics were fake or from someplace other than Glamis, Blu would have posted them. Along with a paragraph or 2 of dribble irrelevant to Glamis.
We all know the drill by now.

Thank you for the pics.

Cool pic's Jason, I've always wondered what the name of that flower was.

Imagine that, The CBD using deception to further their agenda and influence the media. I would never have believed it! [Wink] [Wink] [Wink] I wonder how Bluser is going to justify that? [Confused] [Confused] [Confused]
