question about the stock silencer on a predator: can changing the end cap(with spark arrester) to one that has a larger diameter pipe help with some performance?

i took it off last weekend to check the arrester screen and noticed that the outlet is about half the size of the pipe going into the can. for some reason, one of the mounting bolts broke off when i was taking it out smash.gif i was thinking of milling a cap out of aluminum with a turn down tip to keep from burning the 6pac rac, flag and cooler.

ive seen em on ebay but for like 50 bucks! no thanks

something like this:

you can see the difference between stock and how small the stock outlet is

Just get an aftermarket one for it.

If you can mill your own do it. The quad will ran better without the stock one.

The first thing I did when I got my predator was to remove the spark arrestor until I got my pure polaris pipe and I still run the pipe without it.

Duncan makes a pipe, but it is pricey.....

thats the thing, i dont want to spend an ass load on a slip-on. the bike runs bitchin as it is, just needs some bottom end(getting a bigger rear sproket to fix that) but i was looking at the cap and figured that it would probably get a little power, sound way better and maybe let the engine run a little cooler.

is a spark screen like the on in the picture legal? im used to the cone style or smooshed ones like on the stock cap.

i would just run it without the cap cept that if mr. ranger see it he wont be happy, plus the angle of the can means the exhaust is going to blow all over the cooler rack, cooler, stiffie mount and whip. exhaust gets effin hot!

to get more bottom end in a preddy you need to go big bore. a gearing change will help too. problem with the preddy is the intake ports are to big for the stock bore, thats why a big bore adds alot of bottom end it can utilize the big intake ports. with stock bore the port velocity is just to low.
