Trying to find the source of those stickers I went to earthday.com and found their "Footprint Quiz" which tells you how many planets we need for Humans to survive based on your lifestyle.

I entered all of my info as honestly as possible (most of the questions are painfully loaded which makes it difficult but I erred towards eco-hostile just for kicks) and I got a 4.9 as my result meaning that if everyone lived like me we'd need 4.9 planets to sustain our species.

Then for comparison I entered info for my friend from Ohio. The one who lives in a house with water from his own spring, electricity from solar panels, heat from his wood burning stove, grows his own food and supplements it with what he grows himself.

He also drives less than me and I've never known him to get on an airplane.

His score came out as 5.6 planets!

I'm tempted to try one more to emmulate living in a big city but I have a feeling I already know what it will say [Smile]

Pack 'em in! As long as they're not touching nature they're good for the planet!

5.1 Planets! But I'm below average, I only require 22 acres to support my lifestyle, the average is 24! See I'm already helping the environment! [Wink] Thanks Doorlord!

15 ACRES !!!

4 planets - 18 acres. I wonder how many of those 18 are dunes?
Omnivore
6.3, probably already completely inhabitated by Jim Kirk's illegitimate children.

So I wonder about the point. Supporting interplanetary colonization? Genetically designing smaller people? Promoting a diet of bugs and your own urine?

I took the test again and got down to .9 planets. Everything started out fine, but the rest of my Ethiopian village neighbors signed a petition about the smell coming from my tiny hut with no running water and 9 family members. I'd leave, but I will have to walk back, based on the statements I made in the test.

BTW, we don't have EARTH DAY down here in Ethiopia. Every day is "SCRAPE ENOUGH TO EAT SO WE CAN SURVIVE TO THE NEXT DAY" Day.

(Though it is a small comfort that we are saving the planet).
JET
I only got 2.9 and 13 acres.

I gotta start consuming more to make sure I get my share. I am glad they put up a measurement like that or I would never have known.
JET
With a couple minor changes I am up to 103 acres and 23.1 planets. It shouldn't take long to make the changes.

I have had a change of heart. I can't be so selfish. In order to save the planet I am going to Ethiopia as well and move into a 20 square meter house with no water or electricity along with 6 other people. We won't travel because our meager and locally grown vegan diet will leave us too weak to go anywhere.

9.8 planets and 44 acres
WHOO-HOOO... what a silly test..if everyone lived like me we would need 9.8 planets. I mean, duh.. I'd overrun the enviro hut squatters. Less people = less need for those planets....
KingGlamis
36 acres, 8.1 planets. What a joke! I wonder how many planets Bluesky would take up. Oh wait, he doesn't even KNOW what planet he's on. [Smile]

Hehehehehehe! 111 acres, 25.1 planets! Just messing with them!!! [Big Grin] [Cheese] [Beer] [Razz] [Wink] [Cool] [Smokin]

I'm such a greenie. [Razz]
Only 3.9 planets and 24 acres.
Buggyless
7.7 planets, but I bet that total would have gone down if I could get credit for recycling [Disturbed] Wayno's beer cans.
Professor P
4.9 Planets. Man I hate being average. I need to start consuming more before anyone else gets it first.
Kevin
49 acres, and 11.1 planets

I guess that "GREEN INC." wants us to all live in a earthen hut with no running water or electricity, ride a buffalo to work down an unpaved road, grow our own food in our own personal garden and give up all technology! Don't know how to break this to the greenies, but those places already exist! All they have to do to be happy is move to Africa, or Central America, or one of the pole's! Then they could live in peace and leave the rest of us alone! [Razz]

No, no, no Dezfan1. Making the buffalo move that much would cause an increase in flatuence and you know that would cause a proportional increase in methane pollution. You'll have to walk. [Big Grin]

Actually Dezfan that's closer to my friends house than you'd believe. But when I entered his 'natural' living arangements it gave him a lower score than my suburban dwelling. Apparantly the only good way to live is to cram yourself into a city and accept the mass produced "food" that you are provided with....

So if we took the entire population of the U.S. (approx. 265,000,000)and crammed them all into say the eastern 1/4 of the nation, and then turned the rest of the country into a preserve, they ("GREEN INC.")would be happy? That sounds to simple! [Roll Eyes]
