I have an 11 year old daughter and a 9 year old boy. They have been on quads since they were 3 yrs old.

They both have out grew and hammered thier Eton 90's. The 11 yr old is a little on the big side for the 90 anymore, and although my 9 yr old son is still looking like he fits pretty well, he just out rides the thing.

I was thinking on going to the Eton 4-stroke 150 with reverse, elec start, and lights. It's right in the middle of the quad class and I think they can get a lot of use out of them. I had been pretty set on the idea. But I see now that even Etons are getting pricey like the big 4 or 5 or whatever we have now.

So, I am gazing through the cycle trader and I see all these asian models out there and have no clue what is good or bad? I am interested in what you guys are getting your kids at this age level?

Thanks a bunch guys. I really appreciate any of your advice or experience with these size quads.

The season is soon. thumb.gif

Lets see, I went through the following with my kids:

Honda 90
Honda 250ex
Honda 300ex
Honda 400ex
Yam 450

If I were to make a suggestion, skip ahead to the 400ex, the kids will have more fun and can keep up with you. IMHO, in the sand, "power is your friend." Used 400's should be in the middle 3ks.

The 250ex is a great in between bike, bullet proof, with no clutch, great for the 9 yo, or guests that come out.

11 year old 400ex , plenty around and cheap.

9 year old ,Im going to say Honda 250 ex,cheap, you can buy parts almost anywhere (never broke either 2 I have owned) it has reverse and runs good as stock for a young rider, can put a pipe on it later if needed.

Put it this way , my 9 year rides a 250ex and probally will for another couple years, thats where my $$$ is. Good luck.

China bikes are cool but they are hard to find parts for. you can get them at a good deal and sometimes they runa little hotter than normal

I applaud you for looking at smaller jumps from bike to bike if you are willing to get a new bike every few years. Personally my 110lb 11 year old will be stepping up from his lt 80 to a LTZ250 next season. You know your kids skill and resposibility better than anybody on this board so don't let anybody tell you to just throw them on the biggest bike that they can reach the controls on. Remember that they have to muscle the wight around. Maybe I am just a little more cautious than others, but I don't succomb to the "pride factor" as somebody put it once, like my buddy who put his 85lb 11 yr old on a Raptor and 7yr old 45lb girl on a Blaster. What ever you do keep 'um safe thumb.gif
I like the 250EX idea we let him ride one for a weekend to be sure he was ready

I got my 11 year old the Kasea 150. Very similar I am sure on the Eton. He rode it for one season, but would like more for next season. I am looking at the 250's (Honda & Suzuki). I like the no clutch. His hand is still to small to shift at speed in my opinion. I know I can pick up a 400EX for about the same price and he won't need a new quad next year. That is where I am at in my decisions.

He is also small for his age and only weighs 110, so has trouble throwing my Z400 around and getting unstuck. I like him to be self sufficient on a quad. Leaning to buying the 250 and don't think I will lose much on resale in a year. Rent for the year should approximate $500.

Thanks a bunch guys.

Looks like I am going with the Eton 150's for now. I am getting them through this guy. www.anythingatv.com I am actually getting 3 new quads right now. I am also getting the 40cc for my littlest which I will keep when she out grows it.

I paypaled him the money for the on 90cc just to check him out. After I recieve that one. I will get the 2 150's from him too.

Again, thanks for the advice guys
