Full Version: Are You Keeping The Dunes Open?

hheehheee..I just can't resist....

I want the dunes to stay open also, but I will not support any group or organization that continues to suggest more agressive rules, limitations, quotas, curfews, more permits, bans on any activity, increased prices etc.

Besides, those same people sound just like Hitler & Goebbels during World War II:

We're beating them on every front they tell the masses while they are giving up and surrending land everywhere. Ummm...didn't they lose the war? How familiar does that sound to you right now?

Or maybe we can compare you to the French...also known as colloborators. IN order to preserve what they wanted, they sold out their own people to the enemy. Now that is really starting to look like quite a few people who are giving up our rights to use the dunes?

Think about it.....

Take one look at the City of San Diego, and you'll see where the dunes are headed under the 'protection' of some of these orgs:

1. No more cruising- it offended the tourists and the rich landowners
2. Curfews - again, because the rich people and non-users were whining
3. Alcohol ban - seems a non-user and a rich person complained and gave someone money
4. Limits on certain activities - in Virginia, you can't even thro a frisbee on the beach
5. Rules that apply to the users, but not law enforcement - helmet-less and playing with their ATVs on the beach
6. Improvements, slated to improve the enjoyment by all - actually enrichening the pockets of the rich and bowing to the special interest groups
7. Parking and access will soon be charged at all beaches - because of money mismanagement

Give it a break! Like we need Wheel Chair access programs, paid for by the taxpayers, in Octillo Wells, Pismo, etc. I'm not unfeeling, I just don't think the state or counties should be sued by .05 % of the population that visits these places, and then spend 10 x budget on the handicap renovations, than they do for maintaining the area all year. (Read..more limitations) read Visitor Center (and who pays for that? Certainly not the passerbys or the tourist buses...just like the handicap programs)

Truth be known, I'd much rather prefer a person who was a bit more left than Mr. Waldheim, Mr. Brunasso, Mr. Albright (umm...what was the outcome of that survey of success?) and others. The tactics we are using, aren't gaining us a bit of ground....oh, sure the dunes are open, today. But we are still losing areas due to other programs, improvements, and new rules/rulings.

But really, before any of you all windbags get huffy and puffy; it comes down to the education and personal responsibility of all Duners (desert users included) wether you be a builder, vendor, two-wheeler, quad rider, buggy driver, or camp queen.

If you want to continue to enjoy the benefits and fruits of having the desert available, then you had better grab yourself by the spine, get smart, slap your friends, co-campers, clients, suppliers, etc around, tell them to get smart too; and start working TOGETHER!

Come on, really, can you actually rant or protest against what I'm saying here? if so, then you are just another summation of loss of power to the survival of this sport. If you try to list any reason why the above paragraph doesn't apply, then really, how are you helping? You may as well grab a lifetime pass to the ranks of the CBD, because your lack of efforts and concern are certainly helping them, far more than it's helping to keep the dunes open.

Every trip, we see all of you concerned individuals, sporting your business cards, your flat bill hats, your shiny new toys, satellite dishes, or whatever; you come, you leave your mark, and leave. Usually with trash left behind too. Would it hurt your precious image or ego, to spend a few 30 minutes each trip picking up some trash that was 'accidently' left behind by someone else?

How about taking an hour each trip to have everyone in your camp write letters to the politicians, and other groups who are trying to close (or keep open) the dunes?

Did you spend an hour all season talking to your kids about what's going on?

And let's not forget all those peeps who come out for clean-ups. Many of those 'do-gooders' have found out that it's a free-for-all, no wonder so many bags were full of fresh trash from their camps, sand, or even other bags they took (LOL..c'mon, be creative at least!) Sure was nice to see 10 people cleaning at Comp, while 40 were riding the hill. Funny thing is, saw some of those getting their share of prizes back at the gathering.

Lastly, since I don't want to waste any more of your precious time; I'm entitled to speak my mind and voice my opinion. If you don't like it, fine.

But ask yourself this, what did you do this last year to help preserve the dunes and the sport, without getting anything in return but the satisfaction of knowing that you were honestly contributing?

And to the orgs that want to jump in and brand me a firebrand. At least I have the courage to speak honestly and openly. You are all playing too many personal politics, and ensuring self-rewards. I volunteered my time, energy, and resources; when you s*** on your flock, don't be surprised when they turn into wolves and bite your A$$ back!

Now go ahead and turn the channel back to Public Bullsh!t Station

Praise D.U.N.E.R.S!!!

P. S. If this post offends you, then maybe it's because it's true

Always ready to go to the G!!

Without tides, there is no change. Without waves, there is no tide. So if it's change you seek, then first you must be willing to make waves.

Life is a series of cycles, and most are willing to go along. Yet it is the true innovators and shakers who step outside the well worn path and create cycles anew.

Notworthy.gif Wellcome to the club of " the silent reward " !

I dont know how much $'s and time I've donated , I have spent an entire Sat. afternoon with Dr. Art on the PMV count when my group went on rides, I give checker'd flags away " to worthy individuals " for nothing, I've spent hundreds of dollars on raffle tickets " with no intention of winning" shocker.gif, been to Congressional hearings, protest rally's, yada, yada, yada. What does that get ?, ( besides a little satisfaction ) ????.

I'll tell you what that gets''''

I gets you the satisfaction of being the part of a movement that say's NO to the WACKOS that want to take away " OUR " right to ride !!!.

All of us DUNE PEEPS have to UNITE !!,,,, because I garantee if we get divided on the issues, whatever ones you deem important ,,,, WE WILL FALL !!!!!.

I'll never forget the word's that a fellow frustrated duner recently said ,,,, " save your own friggen dunes " blury.gif . That really hit home with me !, and I now realize how close we possibly are to complete failure if we all dont set aside our personal differences ( bury the hatchet ) and move on !!!.
