rgordonfan. Mainly those are for Pismo, but we like going to Glamis when there are few people there.
When there are few (no?) people, even in the washed it gets pretty soft. The stock 19.5 tires sink like metal disks even WITHOUT the trailer.
We tried (many times) airing down, but found that it reduces reliability of the tire on the highway (read: blowouts). It also takes a lot of time.
For not much more time investment, we can change out the rears and know that we are safe.
Having the new (non-folding) jacking system and imact wrench, the whole process to change to sand tires is easy.
As I mentioned, those %#$$@ bling rings on the highway tires are the only thing that are a pain.

Sandbox, I did not have a problem comming in since it was low tide. Leaving I started to spin a bit so I dug out a little top sand and pulled right out. Plan your trip to arrive and leave at low tide, stay near the water, try not to leave when the entire beach is leaving or someone will stop in front of you at a bad time. It was a rainy weekend so the sand was good. July will be tricky. Have a friend pull you before you bury yourself. It's much better to get an "assist", than a "pullout". Also try to arrive before the beach fills up so you have your choice of parking.

Yeah freightliner was not my first choice , neither was a detriot , as I run a shop that repairs Caterpillar equipment and engines . A 379 pete has a much longer turning radious. I wanted Cat with autoshift and while looking for one there would be 40 to 1 -Detriot to Cat that is . I checked repair bulletins and found there was many problems with Cat ecm interfacing with auto-shift ecm . Aslo talking to all my fleet truck friends they all said I would like my current combo better, with less head aches . I have pulled it loaded about 1000 miles so far and it is great . Also pulled I-35 turnpike with strong side wind 35-40 mph with no problems.
Hey Dmax , 22-24 hours from Kansas City , I have not done it yet but that is what I have been told.
Sleeps 13 with- 2 in bedroom,3 in bunk beds,4 in two fold out couches,2 in fold down dinnette, and 2 above the cab in bed.It is about 7ft 8 inch tall inside.

Good on you for going for it yourself.
Just like building your own rail, building your motorhome has great rewards.
I bet the towing capoacity on this is STRONG (unrated I'm sure, but you will probably never be overloaded)
What engine/transmission? 3208? 4 speed Allison?

643 is bullet proof.
Our A/T is our biggest concern on the motor home. We are ALWAYS watching that temp gauge.
Looks like you have a great rig. Have you taken it in the soft stuff yet? Wondering how it will do in the washes, etc.
