I heard the rest stop in the middle of I-8 right by Buttercup and Gordan's has free water. Is this true? Can I fill up my TH there?
Lucky
Yep can fill up at the rest stop.

Sweet! Thanks for the info.

yes its true, but sometimes it is closed, not very often but it has been once or twice, and depending on which way you are coming from, in El Centro you can fill up and Millies Diner off 4th st. and I think there is a place in winterhaven that you can fill up too.

Coming from Az(Gilbert) I have not see it closed yet. But if it was you can always get water at the Sidewinder shell station. I think it is about 5 or 6 dollars to fill your tank. Sidewinder exit right before Buttercup
I think it is at www.sidewindershell.com

This is funny. I just realized that I'm planning on where I'm gonna get water 3 months from now. I must be getting antsy.

we all feel the same way

I'd hate to drive all that way and have either one of those places let me down. I know the faucet right next to my trailer in my yard works!!!

yea, but why would you want to carry an extra 1200 pounds?

It doesn't really bother me, I like to just get there and set up. I figure by the time I prep the toys, prep the trailer, prep the truck, load the trailer, load the toys, hook up the truck, go get fuel for truck, stop in Gila Bend at that slow ass McDonalds so the kid can have her chicken nuggets, again in Yuma for fuel (another wait), and still have to stop and hope I could get water from some roadside stop or a gas station, I'd be lookin at 6 hrs travel time, I might as well just fill up the trailer at home while I'm doin everything else. Once you get 1200 pounds rolling you don't even know it's there. IMHO its just easier for me to do that than rely on something that may not be available when I get there, especially on the big weekends.

Good point. Maybe I'll track my gas mileage doing it both ways and see if there's a huge difference monetarily.

I am the same way, when I pull my trailer stuffed to max capacity with gas, water, toys etc. I can get from my house to Brawley on a 1/4 tank, it takes me more than 1/2 a tank to go back in the opposite direction when I have no water, gas, etc. Can you tell which way I drive up hill and down hill, I like to have everything good to go when I leave the house, just one less thing to worry about when I get to the dunes.

No doubt, I hate stopping!! Now with the moho i don't stop exept in yuma for gas. I tell everyone theres a bathroom use it, food? open the fridge no more bs hr long visits to McD's in gila bend. when I gotta p i pull off on an exit go and get back on the freeway in 5 mins. Mine holds a 100 gallons and I don't notice it full or empty.
