Lot of personal attacks going on around here.
Let's keep the forum open. No more ASA/Duners/TRT discussions!

There is no threat of this forum closing down.

Personal attacks have been tolerated more here than in most other forums and the patience has all worn thin.

But the forum will not be closed down... personal attacks will be punished against the attacker and Glamis Issues will continue.

Bansh...good to see ya in this forum..icon_smile.gif So, what do you see as the issues, and more importantly, what do you think needs to be done to solve them?

Kill all the enviromentalists in So Cal
BeachHead
No, I asked that question in all seriousness. Although, you do know the cbd is not located in so cal right?
SailAway
Yeah, and we don't want to kill the environmentalists anyway. Or anyone... killing them only makes them martyrs. icon_biggrin.gif

But enviros aren't the problem.

It's those pesky anti-access idiots who care more about power and money than the environment that need to be taken down. icon_ninja.gif

If every peep in here took the time, we could WEEKLY send a barrage of emails to some politician. Pick one at a time and let the masses be heard.

Hey, I'm all for martyrs as long as they're dead. 25brdflick.gif

Anti-access martyrs. . .

Tree-hugger martyrs. ..

Not enough of them, imo.

you could be onto something. Could be worth another try. It's been tried before but it seems were all to busy talking about chit to actually do anything. Hey, I'm no better. I certainly havent done my part. How many others can actually say that they have? I know there are some but THEY are the true minority on this board.
SailAway
Dune Goat and Sandratt, now THAT sounds like a battle cry for the Slap Army. icon_biggrin.gif

There is always, 100% of the time, something we can be taking action on, even if it's just a postcard reminding our legislators of who we are.

Wouldn't it be great to have a place where people could go for specific ideas on what to do... little every day letters like "Some of my $90 is going to buy ranger uniforms and that's just wrong," and great big letters like "When will the curfews be lifted, let's try a new tack."

Articles and rebuttals can be posted... opinion pieces written and sent...

Well, I don't know how helpful it is, but I've been scouring the BLM, Fish and Widlife, plus the local representatives web pages and sending email to them all asking about the ISDRA and when it will be returned to the public. The following in a sample, actually a copy of the one I sent to Nicole of the UDG: (the only one I didn't at least get a form letter returned from)

Nicole,

Could you please let me know when the next public meeting is for the UDG? I would like very much to attend and get a perspective of what the organization is all about. I have been an active visitor to the ISDRA since the early 70’s and would like to stay abreast of the latest developments. I would also like to extend an invitation to get the word out to more than 6000 duners that are also very interested.

All that would be asked of you is to visit http://www.glamisdunes.com/invision/index.php? , register, and then please have a look at some of the topics.

Some of which might be very interesting to you and your group, are:

Glamis issues Information and Discussion - http://www.glamisdunes.com/invision/index.php?showforum=96

Technical Review Team - http://www.glamisdunes.com/invision/index.php?showforum=33

Environmental Opinion - http://www.glamisdunes.com/invision/index.php?showforum=13

Thank you for your time, we look forward to hearing from you.

That's what I'm talking about. icon_bouncy.gif

When we take on the fights and issues confronting Glamis, sometimes it's pretty overwhelming... like trying to eat an elephant whole, all in one sitting, all by yourself.

But if everyone takes one bite at a time it's not nearly so overwhelming. icon_biggrin.gif

Lyle,

One of my personal goals is to foster some two way communication between the UDG, and the online duning community. To that end, I have been doing a LOT of research over the past couple weeks, and I have really met some great people as a result. I have begun a dialog with Nicole, and I hope to start to be able to share some of what I have learned in the near future. I have been working crazy hours the past couple weeks as well, so I haven't had a chance to compose any coherent thoughts but I am working on it..icon_smile.gif I promise some background and a very initial progress report within the next couple days....icon_smile.gif
