I saw a Lifan 107cc engine on ebay anyone ever put one in a atc?
its not electric start so it seems like the kick start would hit the fender?
claims "This engine has more horsepower than a 125cc engine!"
any of u guys had any experiance with one?

I put a lifan type motor 90cc into my 70 u have to have electric start u cant use the kicker unless u cut the fender and half ass kick it

kickstart would be sick! F the fenders

I have one in my atc70 with the electric starter. Works nice but you may have to shorten the intake manifold by about an inch or so. The wiring harness that came with it is to long and needs to be shorten as well.

It should come with wiring harness but no battery. Remember you need to find a place to mount your battery...

5150 tim wants one also(pending sandpugs approval)
Meatball
Aug 16 2005, 01:17 PM
I was thinking it would be a good engine for my next 70 just for the sand
it may not have much for fenders im gonna chop it so kick start would work
cause with the electric start with my luck im going to have alot of dead batteries
after i told my friend he wanted it so hes gonna put it in his 70 probably so when he gets it i can see how it is if its worth it or to get the 90

I was kick starting mine when i was still building it because the plastics were off when ya kick it ya hit the tire so the kicker only goes back a short way but on mine it was far enough to fire it up,only thing was to get the extra kick length i hadda put the kicker farther forward on the kicker splines so i didnt bolt it on that way after i kicked it i took the kicker off.

when you're done it should look something like this.
I had to mount the carb facing forward because of the starter being in the way.

here one complete.

Aug 18 2005, 11:42 AM
Tom ,
Thats not a Lifan engine.
The starter is on the bottom of the Lifan and I would assume except the stock air filter setup.

I know remember I told you what the name was, something like HAWHIN or some Chines name like that...
Also remember these motors are modeled after motorcycle engines not ATC's so there might be thing you need to redesign...

Tom,

But your misleading my followers

by telling them that they will need to ammend thier carb configuration
If you persist in this line of false information, we will be forced to give you a 10 day vacation from moderating

Just a little info...
I don't know if any of you have noticed yet but you may want to remove the chain / sprocket cover because it won't match up to the new motors side case cover...

Thats the best pic i have of the motor i just sold the trike because i have another one im redoing, the motor is a houyung something like that haha had alot of balls almost to much id say cause it seemed like all it wanted to do was wheelie, the battery box i made for it i didnt put on before it sold but i built one to go under the plastics on the frame by the back tire.
Few things dont work when doing this type of swap without mods like my cobra exhuast wouldnt work because of the bottom mount starter motor so i hadda make the flange a half inch longer.
I made my own shifter for it because the one that came with the bike ud have to have a size 2 foot to use it,and i had to mod the part that u bolt to the shifter shaft because it hit the footpegs
I used a z50 manifold that i ported out to match the opening on the stock one that came with the motor so i could put the carb on without having to turn it forward, also the factory airbox did work but i decided on the clamp on instead.
I hadda grind out the inside of the chain cover because it was hitting the chain.
Other small stuff but it was fun.
Heres my new lil guy im working on

Did your engine have automatic tranny or manual?
just wondering how the brake, throttle, clutch lever would all go if I were to go manual
Thanks for the info BTW

i think im going to to put my new motor in my 73 but i need a gas tank
42F67N
Aug 22 2005, 10:20 AM
Mine was the auto clutch but i wouldnt see a problem making it a manual one.
another thing i didnt mention was the rear drum brakes arent good enough in my opinion to stop the trike safely from high speeds if you had to stop fast and missed downshifting or whatnot.
