Anybody else have any problmes with the cooling fans in the DS650. I have gone through 4 of them and I am planning on scrapping cooling fan altogether. I am going to run one of the little inline billet coolers and some radiator shrouds. Any other ideas??? Is there a better fan that I can run?? Should I go out and buy a rail?

Well you might as well buy a rail. You ride something in the same weight class at least you'll be able to bring friends!!!!!!!! laughing.gif No just kidding but there should be a fan you could use somewhere. I don't think the intercooler and some fins will be enough. You don't want to toast the motor do you??????? grenade.gif

Downhillin1,
Get the shrouds or make some. I have had mine for 2 years and the fan never runs. I am just not brave enough to take it off and leave it off. My fan didn't even come on after I strapped Fistfull and his 400EX back in from out by Olds. . I was camped across from you at 13.5 last weekend. I never made it over to chat, will make it a point next trip. :burn: Wrench

Downhillin: ElSensei was on his third fan I believe at the end of last season. Those things just seem to be pieces of crap. I would get ahold of Bombardier corporate and ask them what they plan on doing for you. If your on your fourth fan, maybe a suggestion of them buying back the quad will be enough for them to do something.

I ran mine all last weekend without the fan in the chassis. The idiot light came on once after stopping and went off about 5 seconds after getting air in the cooler. I am going to try and call BUMMBERDIER today of tomoorow and see what the EFF they are gonna do about this crap. Atleast I know that others have been having this problem. I will post as soon as I have some info from them. Anybody else run without a fan??

4 fans that does seem strange are you sure its the fan and not the switch /thermostat ? or is the fan roter just locking up ? I just can't see wearing out a electric moter that fast . I know the ones on the raptor's hardly ever run , we thought we had a bad fan also but as soon as we bypassed the switch/thermostat the fan ran fine . Even went as far as putting new switch in still never see the fan run .

Every time its done it I have heard it start to go. I have taken the leads off of the temp switch and short them together. I know the sensors good because the grief time the fan does work. I have also taken these fans and put them to a 12V source and still no go. When you spin them you can kinda feel them binding a little. I am gonna tear this one open and see what the deal is.

You can loose the fan. Just get some shrouds from CT or carbon fiber ones from Alba. I have been racing desert on my DS for a year now with out a fan.

I saw you over there. I even made a joke to SoCalHondaChick that the only thing I saw being towed into camp all weekend was Fistfulls Honda behind that DS of yours. Chummin and I were making a joke about putting a sticker on the front of mine where I keep the tow rope that would say "Remove to tow ..."

DSRide, welcome to the board. I think I am gonna try that for a while and just use the fan during the summer when it gets hot. I know I can order one from offroad wherehouse for AROUND 75$. I will just keep it around for those 100 pus days.

Have you used this stuff?? Has it made any difference?
MWBbanshee
What about installing a in-line switch to your fan that way you run it when you want .
