My tranny is really noisey..When I shift into any gear its "clunks" and if I bog the engine down at all it sounds like theres a box of rocks in my tranny..Is this normal? And also have your shifter cables stretthed at all yet? Maybe mine need some adjustment? Thanks for the help

Clunking into gear is somewhat normal for that trans.

I would say its normal. We have 2 of them and the heavier the car the louder it is from what I have experienced.

I was riding with John@Outback, he has an S4 it is a very unpleasesant sound, but jamming those S4 trannies with no clutch was pretty kewl.
The 6cyl Subie put out a nice bit of power and torgue, I liked it alot

It should be ok!!! they are loud , but if you are still in doubt drain all the oil from it and check for metal flake in it. If its all clean replace with new gear oil and be done w/it!!!

My S4 only has about 500 miles on it but engagement wise they are loud. With or without the clutch.
Cable stretch WILL happen and you'll need to adjust your cables. If you are out of adjustment it will be hard to shift but it will not produce loud sounds because of this from my experience.
If you are having problems either engaging or disengaging a gear then look to adjust the cables. Otherwise just drive it and enjoy.

Just sold my car with S4,however it was a mid engine so I never noticed that much noise .Then again the twin turbos made plenty of noise and wore headsets to fix that problem
Drive it and enjoy,no worries!!!
On the cable, while in nuetral, cable relaxed, just remove the rear bolt at tranny heim and cable should be "dead center" after removing bolt.If its slightly off it does make a difference.Ck on shifter side as well. Also from a stop and car wont go into 1st or reverse,I just pumped the cluth again and it always went in.

Yes a bit noisey I have that tranny as well. I have the quiet Honda V6 3.5 turbo and can hear any noise that may come about. Pretty normal to me.
