Full Version: Any Shorter 4/5 Seaters Around?

Well no luck selling the trailer yet, so the wife and I are starting to consider 2-seater rails. I have a fairly accurate measurement of the cargo space I have available. The two limiting factors are the width between the wheelwells (76.5" which should be OK with a car backed in, right?) and, worst of all, from the closed ramp door to the first cabinet (passebger side if backed in) is 11' 10". So, am I completely out of the range of any 4-seat cars? I do have 15' 8" total length, as long as the rear-wheel-to-front-bumper doesn't kill me. I attached a diagram I made of the cargo area of the trailer, any info and helpful advice is greatly appreciated!

Based on your measurements and what mine are on my trailer you are 4" shorter in length to the stove cabinet.Only thing that makes it tough is the 76.5 wheel well.My car would fit with the trailer tires and let the air out of the fronts so you could close gate. But the wheel well clearance is 1/2" narrower than my car.Probably could squeeze it in.
Once again my car is 122" wheelbase. 13'.5" total length.V-8 Mid engine.
You should check out the Funco Gen cars. 4-5 seaters with I believe 112-117 wheelbase.14' total length with subi motors.NICE CARS and they HANDLE thumb.gif
When I get a chance to meet you at Sand Mtn you can see how tight I fit in my trailer to get better visual .I have flat floor(no wheel wells inside) so I have a bit more room.

Thanks for the info. I am definitely looking forward to meeting up with some of you local yokels!

Make some ramps for the wheel wells and drive up on them and contact Sandzilla for some of these. You can fit a 4 seater in there.

I think a Funco gen1 and 2 will fit. If this is the type of car your looking for let me know and I will get the measurements from mine.

Measurements would be great. I sent a couple of emails to folks with classified ads here and dunebuggy.com for some specs as well. The car for sale here is a 2003 Gen3 Subi, and the other car is a 2002 Gen3 Northstar if you have any tidbits of wisdom to pass on.

Those are awesome, I will look into those if I need the width. I have pondered the idea of some ramps to match the wheelwells, even without moving the seats I could gain 3+ inches of width.
Thanks for the info.

Only problem left lies with the length from the ramp to the cabinet...
faster dad!!!

Just in from the shed measuring the gen1 big5, the car will fit in your trailer with street tires on the rear and backed in. This car with the bench seat can seat five people. If you dont have a money tree these cars can be picked up for a great deal less money than a new one.

Here is mine.

No money tree here, but I have a wife that can spend $$ like we do!!
JUST KIDDING!! All my toys are more pricier than her clothes and shoes.
Thanks for the specs, I'm REAL happy to find a 4-seater that fits!

I'm having Wes at MonkeyBars Fabrication in Loomis build my new 4 seat LT. He'll build you a custom car to fit your trailer if needed. I'll post some pics in the next few weeks. After seeing Dennis role his car out of his trailer I realized anything is possible. LOL

Thanks Brett. Any contact info for Monkey Bars? tel# or address or website? Any other local fab places?
