My brother has a brand new Z-400. We were out riding it to get some time on it for the breakin. He was going down a gravel road came across a truck did a quick stop and stalled the bike out. After that it wouldn't run except with the choke on or lost of throttle. Got back to the rig and drained the carb ran great got home fired it up ran like crap. He then drained the tank totally and then the carb again. After that he put new gas in it and fired it up ran great but know its doing it again. He's very pissed >:< at the whole thing and was wondering if any of you (Z-400, KFX 400) guys ever have a problem like this?????????? Any help will be great thanks a bunch. Spanky

If it's a brand new bike it should be under warranty still. Factory warranty is six months. A buddy of mine just got a KFX 400. It would idle fine, but, touch the throttle and it would die. Kinda the same problem. If the chock was on, it would not die, off it would. I turned the idle adjust nob at the bottum left side of the carb a hair and that fixed the problem.

this is a typical problem with the new Z400s i have heard/experienced that this problem goes away after initial break-in, but if it persists contact your dealer immediately

It wasn't the float it was the fuel petcock it was turned 2 prime and not on. Once my brother figured it out it runs like a champ now!!!!!!!!

dang.. That is one thing I hate about the Z.. That dang fuel petcock does not have an OFF position and there is a diaphram in there alowing fuel to pass when motor is on. Wish it was old school ON-OFF-RES.
