I have not been out to the dunes yet this season, but it sounds like it is difficult to purchase the season pass. Where are you getting them and is anyone getting tickets for not having them? Just want to enjoy the dunes without any permit issues.

Purchasing a pass this season has not been the easiest thing to do. They can be purchased at the Cahuilla Ranger Station, and next to the Camp Hosts at Buttercup and Gordon's (Dune Buggy Flats). This is only when the Imperial County Sheriff's Office has someone at those locations.

Passes can also be purchased from ICSO officers that are patroling. They will be going camp to camp for this.

The best way is to call the ICSO at 800-278-0165. The passes were to be available off the ICSO website http://www.icso.org/ however the website is not ready at this time.

Thanks for the info LoBuck

Takes almost a week and a half if you order by phone and good luck getting a hold of someone to help you!

I've heard that, also from others that it only took 3 days. Could be anywhere in between.

If anyone needs a 7-day pass (instead of the annual), the good thing is that even if you don't know for sure when your trip will be, you can buy the pass in advance and it will be good from the date you arrive. Not the date you bought it. They can do that with the RFID in the pass.
