Full Version: Any Other Quadzilla Owners On Here?
GlamisDunes.com > Quads - OHV's - Two-wheelers > Quads and Three-wheelers
Quicksilver
I was just wondering if anyone else here still has any LT500's or if there are many out at Glamis? I just added another 1990 to my collection that has never had the engine apart yet. It still runs perfect. The quad is almost brand new with the exception of some faded plastics because the previous owner let it sit in the sun. I should be taking it out to Dumont for a weekend run and out to Glamis this season.

I also was wondering if anyone was still putting on Quadzillathon anymore? blink.gif

I have two and I would trade them for anything new on the market. Barka lounger with handle bars!!

Nope, no more Quadzillathon, I was the one who put it on and it was just WAAAY too much hassle and too many bad attitudes for all the hard work that went into it. It was fun, butI dont think I could handle doing it again!

Hit me up when you come out to Dumont, maybe we will just have a Quadzilla Run and get everyone together with zilla's

I do have a couple shirts left over from 2001, let me know if you want to get down on one!

So are the zillas the kings of the dunes? It seems they should be. I assume a 500 two smoke would be putting out at least 45-50 hp stock.
Wusit2ya
Owned two in my life one 1987 and then a 1990, loved them both any hill you aimed it at it went up as fast ! thumb.gif

If ya run them at 40:1 they dont smoke! They are just torque monsters, havent found a hill it didnt make it up yet! And I am not talking about putting it in first gear either. I can pull up to a hill in 3rd and grab the throttle and go, she picks up speed and s*** and keep going!

Awesome machine!

I'm definately interested in a T-shirt. I have a friend with a 1989 Quadzilla who would like one too. Just let me know what you want for them. We're trying to make it Dumont the weekend of November 19-20 if our new parts come in. We live in Vegas.

I think another gathering of Quadzilla owners would be cool. What kind of turn-out did you get from the Quadzillathon you set up? How did it go?

I have an 89 1dude.gif
Quicksilver
I think the stock horsepower was 52. Add in an exhaust, filter, and jetting and I think its around 60-70. One of the magazines built a Quadzilla in the late 80's that ran 13's in the quarter mile.

Zuki, that is one sweet looking Zilla. I'll post pics of mine if someone can tell me how.

Thanks...

I am in Vegas too, we should get some ride time in. My one Lt is in the middle of a rebuild, taking the frame in for powdercoat. Just got the motor back and am jonesin' to see what she can do. The other one is running strong and the third one is in construction...Lt540 on Alc with Nitrous...whoo hoo!

drop me a line when you guys are going out, I will dig around and find them shirts.

Nice looking ZILLA's I really wish more were out in the sand.
ChuckZilla
I have an 87' that's for sale and they are great bikes if you like a lot of power and don't mind giving up a few conveinences. I will say this, there is nothing like up-shifting on steep hills, that never get's old.
Quicksilver
An LT 540 on alcohol with nitrous??? Notworthy.gif

Mike, what part of Vegas do you live and who did most of your engine work?
I've got some machine work to do to the engine and chromed A-arms to install on my 87. I plan to sell it once I get it back together and keep my two 90's.
KingGlamis
<--------Still have my Quadzillathon T-shirt. I've never owned one but I was there to shoot pics and I got to be a show judge. It was a great time.

I am in the northwest (Alexander & Rancho) I have a local guy, Carl Cunningham, who does my normal work. The beasty cruiser is being done by Jeff Tudor, his work is S L O W, but his motors are fast!

Doug, how ya been? Glad to know you still have that shirt! I still wear my sand sports shirt you donated!

WHen you coming up to Dumont again? Show your wife what Razorbacks are all about!
Quicksilver
I should be up off Torrey Pines and Lone Mountain Rd Saturday with two of my Zillas over at my friends house. We are cutting the dumbo ears off our plastics and going through the new quads before we take them out to Dumont. Give us a call if you are free on Sat, my cell # is 702-274-1214. beer.gif

Had to make a speed run up to Salt Lake City...sorry to have missed ya!
Ghansen500
Another '87 here... Too far North to ride with you guy's (Utah), unless you come up this way to L.S. or St. Anthony, Idaho.

Working on a 250/500 hybrid.... Should be a healthy duner when it's done.
Quicksilver
I was up in St Anthony in July. There was a group of people there riding Quadzillas up Choke Cherry. For some reason we couldn't get any Banshees to race us up the hill. We started running up the steeper hills because the main hill wasn't a challenge. We might be up there in a year or two because of the long drive from Vegas. We also go to Coral Pink in Utah. Where exactly is little sahara?

Another 87 here! We had one and sold it a few years ago. I just recently bought one from our family friend, 'cause I missed mine so much. I enjoy the buggy, but nothing is like my quad!

This is what I love about some quadzilla owners!! The fish stories are incredible!!!! And they didnt race ya cause its a waste of a banshees time. Trust me.

They are torque monsters and will climg any hill you so desire.

Choke Cherry is always fun!
Never been to Coral Pink, although I've seen the pictures... Looks pretty cool.
Little Sahara is near Nephi, UT (Just about 75 miles south of Salt Lake)
Not as good as Idaho, but pretty decent riding. Sand Mountain is where all the $giga-bux$ machines race. Fun to watch for sure.

Roost!!! Long time, no hear any sheiot from 25bangin.gif

Ya know, your statement can easily be said about your banshee owner crowd also!
Banshee owners fish stories are pretty deep too!
The majority of banshees out there are just annoying, underpowered, plugged up clunkers... people still find their way clear to talk smack about them... A waste of time to race??? Please, spare me the drama!
Granted, you $Spend$ enough on one, they're fast for sure.... Just not in the majority of cases...
Like I've said before... 500's are detuned turds in stock form... Be careful what you wish for otherwise.
I still want to see you and Brad jump in the truck and come to Idaho... How about next summer??? I really want to introduce my little hybrid to your new banshee boxing.gif

Have you lined up with a Sabretooth yet? I'd be curious about your outcome...
Quicksilver
No fish stories here. I'm not sure what you are referring to. The hp specs are documented somewhere. The article was for real. It was called "How Fast Are They Really?" I believe it was Dirt Wheels Magazine.

I don't have anything bad to say about Banshees either; there's only about a million of them around and the amount of horsepower you want depends on how fat your wallet is. I just prefer the exclusivity of owning a Quadzilla and I like the way they ride over the Banshee. There's not that many of them out there as they were only made for four years. flag.gif

Yes sir,it is a Very unfinished Paul Turner pipe.Been having to much fun riding it to take it off and have it jet hot coated.I'm the original owner, and still have all of the stock parts.Just bought new front and rear plastic(that was a few hundred dollars). The new Elka dune edition front shocks are great, and on the rear I have a Ohlin, which I might sell to swap to a Elka rear shock.I just wished that I could put a larger tank(damn 500's need a Valdez oil tanker to chase). If any of you will be out in Glamis on Thanksgiving weekend, well have to get together for a run through the dunes.
Quicksilver
drinkup.gif Dunerking, your Zilla looks alot like the 90 I just picked up. Mine even had the Maier hood with the factory yellow plastics. I'm ripping it all off and putting factory Suzuki plastics back on the quad. I plan to chrome the foot pegs, kick starter, rear brake lever, and front A-arms. It will also get FMF pipes even though I'd rather get the Paul Turner's (they are just too expensive). Then it'll be time to ride. drinkup.gif

QZDude: If I could make a subtle suggestion... Rather than waste your $$ on the cheaper FMF setup, you would greatly benefit from sitting tight and saving up your $$ to get a Paul turner... or unless your really lucky and can find a used LRD adjustable (Best production pipe ever made for the QZ)

The FMF is just barely any improvement over the stock pipe... I gave mine away, otherwise you could have it..

Just a suggestion 1dude.gif

I know the guy that is selling those Paul Turner pipes. I could have had them but I think the FMF's look better than the Paul Turner's now that I've really looked at them all.

It is not always about how something looks, but more about the perfomance.I love my Paul Turner pipe, almost went the LRD route but I didn't know to much about the variable pipe set-up.Goodluck.

The PTR pipe rocks 1dude.gif
Quicksilver
I will probaly get the PT pipes when I have a little more money. I have some almost new FMF's on my 87 which I will put on the new to me '90 for right now. I've got more projects than I know what to do with at this time so I need to get rid of some of the toys. I plan to sell my old 90 and the 87. Anyone interested in buying them? The '90 is the Zilla in the picture, although it will have the old plastics back on it. The ones in the pic are going to go on the new quad. I have clear tiltle to the 90. The 87 I got with a bill of sale.

I will have to come out to Glamis when some of you Quadzilla people are out there. I am hoping to get out early next year when I can get enough time off of work as its a long drive from Vegas. Where do you guys all camp out at?
6overZilla
'89 Zilla here. Sorry I don't have a pic up yet. 550 cc big bore kit and a +6" Laeger swingarm. FMF pipe which will be swapped out most likely for a CT Racing (Santa Fe Springs, CA) set up because I'm going to have some port work done soon. Lower gears also. This quad is unstopable, it will climb anything in its path. I would eventually like to shoehorn a 1300cc Hayabusa motor into it for some serious power. But i'm not in a hurry to do that because the bike is so much fun as it sits now.

I'll be in G for tday, camped at the Flats. Long live the ZillaNation!!! headbang.gif
Quicksilver
Just wondering if there are any new Quadzilla owners on here? I went to Dumont twice in March and only saw three other Zillas out there. The ranks are getting thin it seems. icon_sad.gif
MoparMan
I have 90 Zilla and the original owner Tudors Performance did the motor and 2 in. over swingarm and it rips, I was at Quadzillathon 2 and it was a great time and still wear the shirts, looking forward to next season at Glamis but the season is just starting up in NorCal, see you in the dunes Paul
