Hey I was wondering what kind of stuff exactly is covered by a warranty. I got the extended warranty and Im not sure if it is even worth it considering I dont know what it covers. Would a silencer/pipe, big bore kit, handlebars, steering stem, and running a different oil void my warranty?

Most likely, Warranty prolly says that if the bike is modified in any way, warranty voided. but you got a predator, shouldn't ever break!

Just call the service dept were you got the bike and ask them what would void the warranty. Tell them the mods you want to do and they can instruct you from there...Best to get your answers from the people that deal with the warrantys then to get it from us and we be wrong...

Like Mr. Dune said, call the service department and ask them......I bought an extended warranty when I bought my Raptor. I bought the quad from Fun Bike Center in SD, and they sold me a warranty from some outside company ( I think Western Financial Corp or something like that). I have it serviced at Mission Yamaha and the service guys told me that the warranty is basically worthless cuz those guys barely cover sh!t, and what they do cover they make a huge hassle about. My own stupid mistake (I should have bought a factory warranty), but just don't want it to happen to anyone else.

Read the contract! It doesn't matter what anyone says, it only matters what is on the contract.
Service Contracts are great, but only get it from the same manufacture. I deal with these all day long and have bought them (only when available from the factory) for every car I own.

never got anything on the bikes, but always got the 100K for all the cars and trucks.. life saver if you know what I mean!
heck, the dealer wouldnt get us a rental car when doing repairs for long periods of time while in standard warranty. Went in to the extended and then we got a rental car.. go figure!!

I'm a huge fan of the warranty, I just got a new engine then a month later a new tranny in my van that I use for work. This warranty cost me $700 dollars a few years ago. What a bargain! So when I had the opportunity to get a warranty for the quad for 4 years for 400 bucks I jumped on it. Just make sure your cool with the service manager and you'll be fine. They can pretty much push anything through and get it warrantied. You'll be amazed the stuff these guys can pull off. Just go in there with a cool head and you'll be fine.

2-Part question. Does anyone have the YES and if you do have you filed a warranty claim of taken your Yamaha to a dealer for warranty work?
Side question, what mods do you have???

Again you would need to read the contract, but if the mod did not cause the failure they would have to cover it. Also by buying the "YES" coverage, you can complain to Yamaha corporate for coverage. Giving the usual, I've bought 4 new Yamaha's (this is why you fill out those warranty cards) and will continue to buy Yamaha's, I'm just disapointed that this won't be covered.

I have owned over 11 new YAmaha's since 89 when I picked up an FZR 600. Thanks for the heads up.

DerWud tell me about it. Although I do have say Yamaha makes a great product, I do seem to test things to their limits.
