OK, Ive had my banshee built for 5 years now and still run the stock swing arm. I am almost considering a new aftermarket one. I want the round carrier like the honda to get rid of that lame yamaha chain adjustment. The bike dynos at 65hp, so I was thinking about maybe a +4". I am a duner, the front end is set up for that.
What brands do you all suggest?
What length?

thanks

+4 is the best setup for what you have. This is the swinger I had when I had my banshee. It was a nice setup and was a good price.

banshee? lonestar and i agree with +4...much longer will be too hard to turn.

I've been looking at Quicksand swingarms. Look good, any color, zerk fitting at pivot and guaranteed.
When looking at price, make sure the carrier is included. That is a $300 part.
a +4 can be run with your stock shock. A rebuild would be nice, but the stocker will do.

eyeball egineering makes some very nice round carrier swingarms. Tig welded, very clean. They have been in the business for a very long time, since the 80's.

I am just afraid that the +4 might be too long. I like how my bike rids now, I just cant launch as hard as I would like. I have TCS shocks up front and a tcs rebuilt in the rear.

got a link to the eyeball one? I like the name. bandit.gif

My Cousin has one of their first custom swingarms. It used the stock XR500 dirtbike swingarm, cutup and fabricated to fit a 185s atc carrier and axle. It was a monster 500 atc and was running at glamis halloween weekend.

www.davemooreracing.com makes a very nice piece but you'll have to wait a month or two before you get it. dave is in high demand these days for his frames and other chassis components and thats not necessarely a bad thing. 1cheff.gif

also, i run a lonestar and its a very nice piece as well. you'll pay dearly for a lonestar though, especially one of their carriers.

www.jjandaracing.com is another good site.

A plus 4+ doesnt dune much different than stock. All depends on your tire. It should take the edge off of the wheelies. If you put anymore motor in it thou your gonna be in the same boat your in now. I have a +6 on mine and run 10 paddles and still do wheelies. All depends on your setup but anything less than a +4 would be a waste of your time. I can dune just fine with my +6. I would try a eyeball, davemoore or medaltech if I get a new one with the honda style carrier. 1dude.gif

OCBC - I've got a Banshee and my neph does too, we both went with +4 Eyeball setups, haven't had a problem, it tamed the wheelies while shooting walls, and overall I like the way it rides.

We also revalved the rear shock for the change in swingarm and for our weight. I had Hytech ATV in Yucaipa send my shock into Works and they did a nice job, also picked up a longer brake line, went with steel braided all the way around.

My neph says he misses the stock setup every now and then, he appreciated bliping the throttle and wheeling through sections of whoops. I guess it depends where your riding mostly - my neph does a lot of desert riding too at Ocotillo.

If your gonna do it, go with Eyeball - two satisfied customers here!

There are so many things to consider when going for a different length swingarm. An example is how much power you have, what kind of paddles, what your planned purpose for the bike is.... the list is pretty long. I can tell you I wouldn't go longer than a +2 if you like jumping. If you like riding like a dirt circle track racer sliding the back end around corners don't go longer than a +4. If you go +4 and want to slide around you will need to make your bike wider to get rid of the tippyness. We had a combination of different setups in my group and they have all recently upgraded to +4 axles +2+1 a-arms and either +2 swingarms for jumping and better overall tracking through whoops and shooting the hill or +4 for less jumping but more drag/hill shooting.

You'll just have to upgrade and then see what else you will need to modify as you get a feel for it.

psssh keep it stock man, its more fun that way! icon_smile.gif

See, thats exactly what I was worried about. I do like to jump. I do not hill shoot to be competitive(300lbs rider makes that impossible)

The main reason I want to upgrade is for the round honda carrier, looks, and durability. Maybe a +2 is what the doctor ordered. Just enough to ake alittle wheelie out, yet still fun.

Sorry to say it but a +2 probably won't do you any good. +4 you'll be happier I think for the money.

might be worth it if you wanna dress up the bike a little and get the honda carrier i guess. you arent going to feel too much with a +2 which might be a good thing if you still jump and like to dune fast.

that banshee starts making some real power though and you might regret it. if you are happy with your power now, i think you know what to do. icon_biggrin.gif

REAL POWER!!!! boxing.gif it has real power so 25brdflick.gif

JUST KIDDING. It will never go beyond what it has now. Maybe Ill just leave it stock and deal with the shitty carrier....... who knows.

I had a +4 tucker swingarm. If i were to do it again i would have gone +2. It might not help you much with hill shooting but for jumping and in the dunes i think it would be better. My bike put out 70hp and a +2 would have worked perfect for me.
Fireballsocal
OCBC, I took a friends +8 stretched shee out for a half tank of fuel and was very impressed with the way it turned and jumped. He had custom suspension on it which helped but I don't think the +4 will bother you a bit. You will feel it but it won't hinder you at all.
Sand Diego Duner
Call me crazy but I bet I'm the only idiot running a 7mm cheetah cub with a +2 swingarm. I can't wait to get the midrpm's dialed in.
Diesel.E.Coyote
and how do you like the +2? Do you wish you had more?..........

What brand did you go with?
Diesel.E.Coyote
What are anyones opinion about RPM swingers?
Sqwrly1
I know a bunch of RPM axles were reported broke on PS a while back. I would run a eyeball, LSR, or Medaltech swingarm. I still think you should run a +4 man. I jump mine all the time and it dunes just fine with a +6.

I'm running a stock swingarm on my cub. Makes for interesting ride with the Haulers

I have 22-11-10 10 paddle extremes on my ported Cub. It should be at least 90HP. Good thing is it needs more paddle to really hook up! I can just spin the tires so it doesn't instantly flip up and land on me.

OCBC I have a Lonestar round housing. I've had it for 3 years now and no problems handling any kind of terrain. I jump mine quite a bit and I weigh in the 240 range with all my gear on. What ever brand you pick make sure it's not a fly by night company and remember that your life may depend on what you bolt on.
