I've been thinking of trading my 01 Banshee for a Raptor. There are a few reason, but wanting something different is the biggest.

I wouldnt say crazy, but you are only riding dunes, yo cant beat the banshee. Just take some money and make the banhsee different and faster! If you were doing wood/mx, the raptor may be a better choice...

Not necessarily crazy--it depends what you're into. If you like racing the hill, it takes a lot of dough to makes the Raptor as much fun as a Banshee--especially a good piped, ported Banshee.

But if you're into duning, jumping, and wheelies--the Raptor might be just the ticket for you. I used to ride my Banshee 90% of the time, but would occasionally take out the 400EX for a change of pace. Worlds apart, but both an absolute blast!

I Dune, Desert and Trail on the Banshee. The only time it's a handful is on trails. I've ridden Z-400 and 400EX's and they suck. I want horsepower and no pre-mix. With only one 2 stroke now, it makes it a bigger pain.

hey derwud...I don' think your crazy... Banshee has more potetial speed wise, but the raptor suspension and realibilty is hard to beat. Having owned a banshee for amny years and rebuilding the thep top end on the s.o.b every season or too, who can beat the 4 stroke realablilty? Don't get me wrong, I love both bikes...for speed and down right a kick ass ride...Banshee. Rider friendly, suspension and realablilty...Raptor

You'll never be able to deal with 2 strokes unless you go up into the 900cc range, nitro, turbo, fuel injection, and so on, that's the nature of the beast.

Did someone say reliability and Raptor.. HAH.. You dont know jack. The Raptor has got to be the most unreliable quad produced lately. Check out atvconnecting forums and see for yourself.

Derwud, it takes serious cash to get a raptor to run with a banshee. Youll regret it, ive seen it happen!

I don't know what you guys are doing your rigs??? Several guys I ride with have raptors and a couple have z400's.... and yes I do know what I am talking bout with realablity. Only one guys has had any problems, and only a leaky intermediate shaft seal. Still under warranty, fixed with no pain no strain. As far as the z being as POS, I totally disagree. I thought the z was a great handling and suspended bike, my only complaint...not fast enuff, but it still kills the 400ex. Maybe if you beat the living shiat out of your rig, yeah problems, although I did hear of a problem with 01 raptor tranny's, but my bro has no problems with his.

took my GF's raptor out for a ride in the desert long straights lots of quick turns LOVED IT ! front shocks and the way it went through the woops HATED IT
all in all liked the way it rode and handeled but as far as tradeing in my banshee for a raptor no way . would i buy one as a second bike sure that 4-stroke power is fun ,just stab the gas and it goes.

Derwud, I have ridden some four strokes before and I just can't get use to the lack of throttle response that they have. The two stroke has that quick snap as soon as you hit the throttle. Now if you can get use to that and the low rev sound of the four stroke motor then go for it. I ride a 250R and when I ride a four stroker it just leaves me unsatisfied. And I know what you mean about having to mix gas but it's part of the give and take...

Just about all 400cc four strokes will keep up in the dunes but make sure when you go get one that you like the way the suspension works for you. A lot of the batching I hear about is the way the bikes handle and how hard or how soft the suspension is.

If I were to change to a four stroke I would definitely be looking at he predator. It's setup like a 250r and seams to have the power you're looking for. Just my 2 cents

3 of my friends have Raptors. All 3 of them have said they wish they bought Banshees. I think they bought them because they were new and more expensive. They salemen blew a little smoke up their way too. My roomate hates his Raptor so much, he wants to get rid of it. Not even try to sell it, just let someone take over payments. His starter clutch just went out. Guy at Motoworld says it's common.

My idiot roomate STILL owes like 10 grand! He bought it 2 years ago. The dubs alone cost like $1,000! They are totally ghetto. I'll ask if he is serious about ditching it. I doubt anyone out there would take this financing FUBAR. It's pretty fast. I've only seen him beat by one or two other Raptors. It's definitely not $10,000 fast. He is such an idiot!

If he spent 10 large on raptor, he's out of his mind! He better stay in it for long haul, cause nobody will want to bail him out of that when you can get a used one out of the trader for under 5k now!!! :.(. :.(. :.(.

Well I pick up my Banshee tomorrow from Sandtoyz Unlimited. I can't wait to see how it runs after they are done. Seems I was way off on jetting. Pro circuits like different jetting then Toomeys.

I've read the poll about A-Arms, but who makes the best, low budget A-Arms and shocks. I want the up grade, I just want to be cheap about it.

I know that most combo's run about $800 - $1000. I just want to make sure I get the best set-up.

I love my raptor it is so easy to ride do to the power band. Yes I have always beena 2 stroke guy till now(3-250rs,lt250,Banshee,). If you come out easter lets go for a ride I will lead on my pig you follow. Then after a while we will switch bikes and you can see for yourself. I lead all sorts of people on a slow ride the raptor is the best no struggle to let the kiddies keep up just put along. Fast rides not to bad haven't been left and no one has complained that I am slow. It waasn't my fastest ride but a good pace mwbanshee can tell you my raptor can go.

The bike seems to run great, I was only able to ride up and down the driveway as a Neighbor was watching me and she would have called the cops. But it started right away and seem to be a lot crisper than before.

Cool people, helped load and un-load the quad and seemed to take good care of it while in their Possession.

yeah, I cruised over there today and they do seem really cool, and very knowledgeable... We are on the same page, right... Artesia Blvd?? Just to make sure. I think I'm gonna take my bike over there when I'm ready to get it ported. In the meantime I'm gonna keep buying stuff from them like little chrome chingaderas and hook my bike up little by little during the my off season. Lemme know how that thing runs when you get to really cut it loose. OH yeah... what did you have done to it anyway???

hey..ive got both a raptor and a banshee...im selling the raptor to get another Banshee...nothign in my own mind can compare to a banshee..the raptor is a very fun and reliable quad but its just not what im in for..the raptor does do better on the trail and i ride trails alot at hungry valley but i dont know ide stick with the Banshee

Hey derwud...you don't live in my meighborhood do you??? I've got a nieghbor that just LOVES me!!!!

I took my YZ for a blast after Service and a wash and had the Ghetto Bird circling after the ride, and a police visit shortly after.

I'm down checking out S.D. this weekend, do I need to stop by your nieghbor house so we can have a little chat?
