insomnia
Hello to you all, I am new here. Thanks to those that started this site and to those that share their knowledge with others. I am trying to get my cart running up to par. No punt intended. I bought a 98 E Z Go with a new 24 hp Honda. It has not ran right since I got it home. I could have the guy take it back and do the adjustments. But, I wanted to leave that as a last resort. It does not want to idle after being driven around, has a hard time with cold starts and now wants to back fire. Which will start driving the neighbors nuts soon. Does anyone have any information what I need to get her going?

Also, it is hard to shift it from forward to reverse and Visa versa. Anyone having the same experience with these 24hp honda engines? Or is that the nature of the beast? Is it possible to adjust or replace something to make it easy.

Thanks in advance,

Mike

Probably needs a valve adjustment.

I have noticed on mine that I have to keep the idle adjustment low in order to shift good. When I had the idle set higher, it stayed running really good, but that shifting probelm was there.

When too low, it wanted to stall a lot.

You need to play with the idle a little so that when cold it wants to stall, but after 3-4 mintues of warming up with you giving it some gas, it stays running. I just found that "sweet spot" on mine and those problems you stated went away on mine.

Thanks! Your help is greatly appreciated. Nice looking rig to tow that sweet looking boat.
