I have one of those pro design intake plates where you mount the air filter on, and yesterday when I took the air filter off to clean it, I noticed there was oil inside of it. The oil was also dripped onto my air filter itself. At first I thought it was anti freeze but then I realized it was my green spectro oil that I use. I don't understand how oil could get there... Any opinions??? Thanks
oh yeah... it's a banshee

have you checked your plugs or andythng to see if it is running lean? or have you had is standing up some how for a while so the gas has a way to travel back to it? you shouldnt be gettin any ol there but if you were running a K&N you should have alittle of the K&N oil in there but not spectro.
oh yeah, I stood it up on the way home from glamis... but I left the motor running and turned off the gas to dry out the carbs...

thats a long drive so it could have settled and then slowly dripped back when you put it down. so id give it a while to see if it does it again.
I'll try that... thanks. Funny thing is... I've driven with it standing up plenty of times to Glamis and it's nevre happened before... oh well... we'll see

Sal what do you run 32:1? Don't worry about it, that's just excess oil that left behind from your carb. I get it in my intake also it's normal.
Thanks, Tom. Yeah, I run it at 32:1...
I just thought there shouldn't be any excess gas in the carbs, since I always dry them out at the end of every trip... but I bet you're right, so I'm not gonna sweat it.

What it is, is the oil that is sprayed into you carb with the gas mixture. The oil leaves a residue on the side walls of the carb. when the bike is sitting for a while it collects there.

Sal just look at it this way you know your bearings and seals are being well lubed.

that oil you are seeing is excess filter oil. dont worry about it, you see it on most types of filters, it wont hurt the motor at all...maybe stop some stuff that gets through

What type of premix are you using? I find oil in my intake tract on both my Banshee's. My thought is the excess premix lays in the carbs. intakes and bits and when you put the bike on it's end the oil makes it's way to the airbox.

Hey Derwud, that's what I think also. It was just weird that it had never done it before. Maybe Spectro is pretty thick oil I dunno. Ijust started using Castor 927 by the way. Oh yeah, and to those who say not to mix Castor 927 with anything else without draining the tank completely... MYTH. I mixed half a tank of castor and Spectro... NO PROBLEMS WHATSOEVER. Bike ran like a champ. So, if you're ever outta oil and need to bum some from a buddy... just use it, it won't hurt anything

I've always used Maxim Super M at 32:1. I'm going to change to the 927 at something closer to 50:1.
