Allen Cole

COLE, ALLEN Allen Cole had many close calls in his life, being pulled to safety several times from race cars after some hair-raising crashes. The man who continually seemed to beat the odds in action sports died this past weekend in an accident while on a low-key boating trip with family and friends at Lake Martinez in Yuma, Arizona. Allen was born September 28, 1970 in Neptune, New Jersey. His family moved to the San Diego area in 1972. Allen loved outdoors action and being with his very close group of friends, including great times spent auto racing, boating, riding sand cars in the desert and golfing. Allen raced for a number of years at the former Cajon Speedway in the bomber stock, street stock and modified divisions. Allen had no pretenses and was a man completely comfortable in his own skin. He took life as it came, usually with a smirk or irreverent comment provided as editorial. Allen married his girlfriend of seven years, Kelli, in July of 1998 in a sunset ceremony at Marina Village. In 2001, they welcomed their son Austin Allen, who mirrors his dad's smile and sense of independence. He was employed at Jimmie Johnson Kearny Mesa Chevrolet as a service consultant. In addition to his wife Kelli and son Austin, he is survived by his parents, Walt and Barbara Cole, his sister Carol Soliz and her husband Tim, nieces Lisa and Amy Saylor, in-laws Ken, Kathy and Kenny Fite, and loving relatives in Texas and New Jersey. Per his wishes, his wife and close friends will scatter his remains in a private ceremony at Glamis Sand Dunes. A public memorial service for friends will be held this Sunday, September 25, 2005 at 11:00 a.m. in the Magnolia Room at Sycuan Golf Resort (formerly Singing Hills). In lieu of flowers, a fund for four-year-old Austin has been established. Deposits can be made to the Austin A. Cole Fund, c/o North Island Credit Union, PO Box 85833, S.D., CA 92186-5833.Please sign the guest book at obituaries.uniontrib.com
