This is Angel again, Kyle's mom. I forgot to mention that we have a friend who is making T-Shirts with a rider on the back and Kyles number plate. It has his name and below says STILL RIDING. With a cloud below the bike. We are going to try to give them out at the funeral. We dont know yet when. But it looks like it might be the following Sunday at BIGS in Fullerton. We are letting Kassi decide what Kyle would want and its her good bye to her baby brother. But she said definately not in a church. We are making his Riding Boot into an Urn. And later we have a lot of friends who want to join us in Glamis to release his Ashes. We dont know when but we will post it and hope everyone will join us at a huge Bon-Fire is his memory. We just dont know the plans as of yet. How in the hell do you plan your sons funeral.... it just isnt something I have the stregnth to do. Thanks again everyone and we will keep you posted.

I have been friends with mike since jr high school. we were not close but became better friends roughly 10 years ago. Mike is a special person always willing to help anybody with his big hands and soft smile. If you want to see him glow mention his children Kassy and Kyle. I have had the honor to watch kyle ride like the wind do tricks on his skateboard and beat the pants off of me in friendly game of horse. This young man kyle was a special person he was kind , thoughtfull and the kind of kid you were proud to know. my heart has sunk very low in my chest and will not return to its normal hieght for sometime. my prayers go out to KYLE and to his family all of you MIKE, KASSY, ANGEL and SHANON. all of you raised a fine young man witch says how special all of you are. god bless all of you
paul michael
Mike words cant begin to tell you how hurt and sorry i am. you have been my friend for a long time.We duned together for years, and suffered other friends tragities .no one can put reason to what happened, living out at glamis over the past few years Ive seen many horable things and many many fun and happy times all I can do now is try to remember the good times with kyle and our friends glamis has changed since we started going out its still fun but not as much I dont know how many more friends funerals I can deal with this was a tough one.Your friend allways Ralph Jennings dunes edge .

Mike and family,
Your loss is tragic and I will pray for your families recovery. I also have a young 11 year old and want to thank you for writting your thoughts on this site as many of us need to be reminded of the potential and the reality of danger; in our quest to enjoy our one and only life here, God bless.

QUOTE(Rideredfamily @ Dec 29 2005, 11:16 AM)
Kyle was a very sweet and fortunate young man. He had the opportunity to have two dads. The one another post mentioned at roadrunner loading the bike was his "second "dad.
Everyone that knows Kyle and the family is shocked and I for one could not keep from thinking about him the entire time I was riding this week. Our family has watched Kyle grow up and spent many Thanksgivings, Christmas and Birthday parties in Glamis with him.
Words can't explain that empty feeling,Our prayers are with you all, God Bless.

I never had the pleasure of meeting your family but while reading all of this the tears stream down my face...... my heart is heavy for your family. You can be proud that you raised him to enjoy life and it's seems a though he did.

Appreciate everyday and tell the people you love that you love them, at every opportunity.

Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take, but by the moments that take our breath away.....george carlin

Many thanks to all my fellow dunners who have taken the time to write in with your best wishes.
I'am Shannon Kyles stepdad, i've had the pleasure of being kyles and Kassi stepdad for twelve years , when i first met there mother and them i was a confirmed bachelor and they changed my life after that . Kyle started riding before he was born with his Mother and has never quit since, he was always a wonderful child both him and his sister who are very close were my best friends and riding partners starting on a Suzuki 3 wheeler moving into 80 four wheelers and finally into dirt bikes . They know the safety laws ,they knew the equipment ,and they knew the riding rules to stay together . I know Kyle is gone from this earth but he will never be gone from my heart and we when we return to Glamis he will be with us on every ride .
We are asking everybody to please write in to the BLM and the Gov. Arnold S. to explain to us why at the busiest time of the year at Glamis why the ranger station was closed at all during this time when the dunes are in full swing . We need to effect change to make sure that the office at least staffed with at least three people 24 hrs. a day seven days a week during dunning season . So we all know 911 will not dispatch an air mercy with out a ranger ,paramedic, CHP or other official on hand, i know this from a first hand experience because i tried and so did others that day with no success, lets not let this happen to someone else . Enclosing Thank you for all your support for our family .

My hearts go out to all, so sorry for your loss.

I went thru something similar when I was 15 years old in a Motorcycle accident, best friend was killed, but keep the faith, Kyle would still want you to enjoy the special place we love, Glamis..........

This is Angel, Kyle's mom. We are keeping our friends and fellow duners posted that we are having a gathering on January 15th from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm at Bigs Grill in Fullerton on St. College and Orangethorpe. Its not a traditional funeral but a celebration of his life and what Kyle loved about his life, Riding, music and his friends.
We have a friend to thank who has made T-Shirts with a memorial of Kyle riding on it. Our friend Sean spent a lot of time making the art work perfect for our son and Jeff Williams is paying for them. And Thanks to Mathias for the silk screening. So far they are making 60 T-Shirts. We are not sure how many more we will need for his friends.

Also, we just looked at the calendar and Kyles birthday is 4-8-90....this year his birthday falls on a Saturday. We are thinking that we will go to Glamis that weekend on his birthday which is fitting since he has had pretty much every birthday he ever had out in Glamis. And every birthday cake had motorcycles and dunes on it. We hope to have everyone there and at the Bon-Fire the night of his birthday. Even fellow duners. Kyle loved a good Glamis fire..... Thanks to Ron Peterson who taught Kyle all the fire tricks he knows. If you would like more information on any of the upcoming events please let us know.

We have so many more people to thank. We have close friends and people who just started a fund raiser to help us pay for this celebration..... We dont know how to say thank you right now. I hope to God we never have to repay this favor for anyone else. So hug your kids and keep them safe.

Please wear casual attire to Bigs, Kyle would want this to be a celebration and not a mourning.

Thank you everybody

I have a 15 year old son and your story touched me deeply. I can't imagine the pain you are going through right now. You are being so very brave. Life is for living and that is what you let your son do. You let him live his life to the fullest. You're right about life in general being dangerous. Kids die doing many sports, skiing, surfing, jet skis, baseball, etc. Don't let that article get to you. Thoughtless jerks use other's pain for their gain. Your son sounds like a great kid. When I read about him babysitting the other kids around the camp, that gave me a big smile. He sounds so sweet. My prayers are with your family, that you can find peace in your lives and keep his memory alive in your hearts forever.

You have my deepest sympathy. God Be With You.

Thank you very much! Once again i can not say how sorry we are for this unfortunate accident! I do look forward to meeting you as well anyone that was involved is welcome to contact me! Best of luck and you all are in my prayers!!!

Mike,
I am floored.
I'm am at a total loss for words. I had heard about the accident and Kyles death.
But I had no idea it was your son.

I am so sorry to hear this my friend.
Words can not express the sympathy I feel for your family at this time.

for those GD.Comers that do not know.
Mike has visited our group several times,
both, by driving over to the wash from his camp,
and also visited us while we've been parked at the hill.
I always take time to talk to him whenever we cross paths.
He is a very nice man, and is the one who taught Andy to ride a 400EX.
We had just met him that day at cement flats, and he just offered, out of the blue.
Truely a nice guy.

Again, I am sorry for your loss.

Mike, I haven't seen you in some time. And Angel, it's been even longer (don't know if you'll remember me). This is Brannon, George's friend. I haven't been out to Glamis with your group in a long time but I still remember and cherish all the great times spent with your family and friends. What a great bunch of people! I only wish I could have continued going out their with you and share all the wonderful moments that have been talked about here.

My prayers and thoughts are with you and your families. If it's alright with you guys, I would like to come by Biggs to celebrate and say "hello". GODSPEED KYLE!

Man, you guys are a WONDERFUL and strong family! Now, if there is ANYTHING that the GlamisDunes family can help with PLEASE don't hesitate to ask. We have a wide range of talents and business owners among us, and we would be honored to help you guys out. Thank you ALL for keeping us posted with dates of his life celebration, and the bonfire dates. Since I am in AZ, won't be able to make the Life Celebration, but a few GD.com'ers may just show up. You're all an inspiration, and I know Kyle is extremely proud of you guys as he watches over you all.

HI, THIS IS KYLES MOM AGAIN.....

WE JUST FOUND OUT THAT IT WOULD BE EASIER FOR US TO HAVE OUR EVENT FOR MY SON ON THE 21ST OF JAN. THERE ARE FOUR GAMES ON THE 15TH AND HE WOULD HAVE TO CLOSE THE BAR FOR OUR SERVICE.

I WILL UPDATE YOU ON THE DATE AND TIME

I REALLY DO NOT WANT TO COMPETE WITH FOOTBALL GAMES ON THE DAY WE WANT TO CELEBRATE MY SONS LIFE AND MOURN HIS DEATH.

IT WILL ALSO GIVE US TIME TO PREPARE OUR DVD's AND SO ON. ALSO OUR FIGHT FOR ALL DUNERS TO KEEP THE RANGER STATION OPEN AND MAKE SURE THEY DONT TAKE AWAY THE MEDICAL HELICOPTER, AS REPORTED THEY ARE.

I DONT WANT MY SON TO DIE IN VAIN
Looney Duner
I am extremely saddened to hear about your familys loss. I also am a father of two boys ages 10 & 14 who ride, and I worry about them constantly. I have ridden in Glamis all my life, almost started going to Glamis in 1971, I'm 41 and have seen a lot of tragedy in the dunes. I think your family & your friends attitude is incredible, so many people would just give up, Kyle passed doing something he loved, and you loved as a family, there is no other way to go in my book. Thank you for sharing all of your feelings here to the general duning population, it means alot to a lot of people. May god be with you and your family in these tough times.

Shannon, Dave here from Vegas, so glad we spoke yesterday. It goes without saying that myself and all of my friends have your family in our thoughts. I definately want to contact BLM and find out why no rangers were on duty and push an initiative to correct such an issue. Can you provide the address, or email, or phone number, for all of us. Peace brother and many prayers.
2ndGear
Hi Dave, This is Kyle's mom Angel responding. Shannon posted on page 3 of this site all the contact information for the Ranger Station and more. If you are looking for info on this topic there is something I would like to know and maybe you could help me. Im curious if other BLM sites that are camping parks were staffed with Rangers or anyone on Christmas Day. We of course want all the info we can to wage our war against the fact that they were closed out at Glamis. So if you do check into this please let us know, or anyone else who may be reading this. Kassi and I have had some difficult things to prepare for Kyles gathering on the 21st. And it is taking so much out of us. We just found a video of him racing his BMX bike. Shannon and I used to take him to the track and all of us yelling GO KYLE GO! And Shannon was up at the starting gate with him giving him last minute advise. Its so hard to go thru all the photos and videos. Anyway any help anyone can provide would be great. All of our fellow duners have been very supportive and we cant thank you enough. BUT, I dont want my sons death to go out without a fight, and I want others to be aware of where our money is going out there. And again why on such a busy weekend they werent there. There were stores open on that day around here. Please let me know if you find out anything.

If I remember right, Buttercup has a camp host I'm not sure if they were out there on Xmas, I have no idea why they don't have anything on the Glamis end
I know we ran across a Dirtbike rider the wed after xmas and my husband had to bring EMS out to the 16yr boy(broke his back) and then we had to wait almost an hour before the BLM got the buggy there to transport him out of the dunes this We all agree is not acceptable to us duners! I also contacted BLm about this situation and yours, your family is in our thoughts.

These announcements are always the hardest for me to read.
Angel and Mike and all of Kyle's family and friends my deepest sympathy goes out to you. I cannot fathom having to deal with such an experience.
From the entire GlamisDunes.com family I offer my sincere condolences and if there is anything at all that we can do or if there is just something you need and don't know how to do it do not hesitate to PM or email or even call me... (my number is in the Gd.com phone directory)

It was suggested that this thread was moved to the memorial forum. I will do so in a few days.
