This is my first electric start quad, and I was wondering what kind of maintenance do I have to do to the battery to ensure it stays in good, full charged condition? Does the motor charge the battery when riding?

Also, if the battery goes dead, can this quad still be towed and bump started?

The battery should be pretty much maintainance free. If there are caps on top, you'll need to keep an eye on the water level and top off every now and then with distilled water.

The battery will be charged by the engine and will not have to be recharged unless you leave the lights on or let it sit for months without starting it.

Mines been going strong, I was a bit worried about electric start at first too but its always got power to turn it over and I've logged a lot of hours. Now that you mention it though I've checked the manual, it is maintenance free but does note to remove the battery and store in a cool dark place if not used for a month or longer.

i plug my quad into a battery tender every time i come home from riding. this ensures it will start for me every time i go out. about 5 yrs ago, i rushed out to the dunes on my warrior without testing it first, and had to get bump started all weekend(apparently i had left the key on). in order for this to never happen again, i always run a battery tender when i get home, even on my yfz that is suppossed to be maintenance free.

It is maintenance free... I would replace it about every 2 years though. you will not be able to "bump" start your 700r Raptor though. With the fuel injection and fuel pump you need battery power to make it work.

Cars are the same way but they work fine, if the motors turning the generator/alternator is making power. I bump mine in the dunes quite often (though the battery is good), doesnt start as easy as my other quads did though.

Brother left his key on and killed the battery on his 700 last weekend. Tried like crap to bump start it finally just hooked it up to the truck and charged the battery for about 5 min then it was all good. Didn't realize you couldn't bump start the fuel injection@
