Any Raptor owners have troubles with CDI's ? My buddies quad had one replaced last season and needs another one already. Prior to that he replaced the stator too. Ideas on why he go thru 2 in basically 1 year ?
He did not replace it with stock because of $$$
What's the preferred brand or better yet which to stay away from?
Is there any reason NOT to use aftermarket?

Thanks
PokrMny
The aftermarket raises the rev limiter about 1,000RPM but the Raptor dosent make any extra power in the extra 1000RPM's so an aftermarket may not be worth the money. I may have a stock one in my garage I will check.

What else has he done to that bike ? Sure sounds like something is shorting it out or burning it out, its solid state so it should last in "theroy"

That's what i told him was to trace all wires and look for a short.

Update: He took the CDI from my quad and says his is still not running right.
He recently had Ken's in Mesa rebuild his motor. After 1 trip to G, he took back to him. They said it was the CDI, after trying mine he's taking it back to Ken today.

don't start anyone, I know Ken's does good work and I'm not bashing Ken's in any way. He's being helpful so I'm sure they'll find it.

^^^^^^^^ thanks. That's cool of you. thumb.gif He's got a black 2001 and I know he took it back to Kenz yesterday. My buddies had way too many problems with that quad.
He had a brand new one stolen from his garage. No insurance covered it. So he bought this one used and has had one thing after another go wrong. He KO'd the engine last summer that's where Kenz got involved.
