Chris, please be sure to let me know if there's anything I can do. I only met Chris the one night over New Years. He's way cool.

I received this in an e-mail yesterday, I work for the City of Chula Vista:
Chief Richard Emerson regretfully announces services in memory of 32-year old Police Officer Richard Carter. Officer Carter died unexpectedly on January 7, 2006, of an apparent heart attack. He is survived by his wife, Sue. Officer Carter was a five-year veteran of the Police Department, and served the last three years with the Traffic Enforcement Unit. Allied agencies, family, and friends are invited to attend services in his memory.
A viewing and Rosary is being held at the Blessed Sacrament Church, located at 4540 El Cerrito Drive in San Diego, on Thursday, January 12, 2006. The viewing will begin at 4:00 pm, with a Rosary at 7:30 pm.
Funeral services are also scheduled at the Blessed Sacrament Church, and will begin at 11:00 am on Friday, January 13, 2006. Uniformed personnel are invited to arrive no later than 10:00 am to be placed in uniform formation. There will be a reception immediately following the services.
Interment services are scheduled for 2:00 pm on Wednesday, January 25, 2006 at Fort Rosecrans National Cemetery in Point Loma. Additional details about interment will be forthcoming.

Thanks brudda. Just saw Rich's family gathered around his motorcycle that was set up as a memorium......that was tear jerking.
I along with a ton of others are getting our class A uniforms ready for the funeral.
I hope he looks down from the heavens and sees a huge sea of blue uniforms at his funeral and knows that he is loved and missed dearly.

HV, I just got off the phone with BHOBBS ... I know its a tough one ''.. as my group just went through this last weekend ...
God speed for his wife, family, and friends involved. As one said in an earlier post .. its hard to understand why GOD takes some people early. Just know by the type of service this man is having he was well equiped to to make his journey.
.............If that is any consolation.
Thank all of you who are going and showing the support of the Gd.com family.
Rest in Peace Brotha` ... Rest In Peace.

When I heard her say that, I knew it came from this site but couldnt remember who posted it. Thank you, it was obvious that she was touched by it.
The funeral was....well.....it was a funeral for a friend. A huge amount of people showed up to pay their respects. Earlier I mentioned that I hope Rich looked down from the heavens and would see a sea of blue uniforms bidding him farwell on his final journey--well he saw that today.
Sue, when you read this know that you have a huge support base. Some are obvious like Rea and Kahl. Others like myself are also here for whatever you need.
God bless.

I'm certain that Rich was looking down and having a little fun with us yesterday. While I was in the shower, when I tried to change from the overhead nozzle to the handheld, the lever broke off in my hand. Then I cut myself shaving, which I hadn't done in forever, unless you count the day before when I was getting ready for the viewing. When I got to the station, I threw on my old motor boots complete with taps in the heels. Then I walked downstairs and promptly fell on my behind. Finally, as we headed off to the church, I ran into another motor before we were a block from the station.
He had even more fun with Karches, who always bore the brunt of the teasing in the traffic unit. On his way to the station (from North County) he got a flat tire on the motorcycle. He limped it in to the station, and rode a different bike to the funeral. Then when we went to leave from the funeral in unison to escort Rich back to the mortuary, Karches' bike wouldn't start. When we returned from the mortuary, it started right up as though nothing was wrong....

My condolences to Sue, fellow LEO's, and GD.comers who knew Shrek. I did not have the chance to meet him. I share the fellowship of LEO's and motors and have lost friends as well.
Blessed are the peace makers, for they will be called sons of God. Matthew 5:9

Thanks everybody for your kind words, thoughts, prayers, and inspiration. I can feel them working. I never would have imagined I could be taken care of this well. Rich would be pleased.
I read these postings often and they comfort me every time. There are no words to express my gratitude for everything you've all done.
Thanks, Chris, and all my boys in blue.
