I would like your opinions, witch is better in the sand o-ring or no o-ring. I heard the sand screws up the o-rings?
thanks for any info

I prefer O-ring myself. you don't need to lude them which keeps the sand from sticking to them. But I do use WD-40 on mine to keep the rust away. So I would thing that using a standard chain with lube all over it would gather sand and wear it out quicker. Just my.02

I USE NON O-RING BECAUSE I STRECH THEM OUT TOO FAST AND AM ALWAYS REPLACING THEM. NON O-RING ARE A LITTLE MORE COST EFFECTIVE. :dis: :dis: :dis: :dis:

I've always had much better luck with O-Ring chains. Less maintance and just a cleaning and WD-40 is all the lube it needs!

O-ring. Buy a high end chain and after the first ride, it won't stretch any more. O-rings keep the sand and dust out of the chain pins, prolonging the life. Non o-ring chains have alot less friction so if you need every ounce of power for racing, a non o-ring chain would work better. To keep your bike clean, use chain wax instead of chain lube. It is enough to lube the chain but it cleans up easily and doesn't gunk up the bike so much.

My current takasago omega o-ring chain is two years old and has been adjusted once after the first ride. This is on my YZ400 that gets duned on an average of twice a month. Now you can't tell me that even your built banshee is going to stretch that same chain when the torque of my four stroke doesn't. I have the same chain on my banshee which is three years old but it doesn't have the torque of my bike and it doesn't get used as much. It hasn't been adjusted after the first time either. If you are stretching chains, you might be running too tight or too loose, I don't know. If your running a high quality chain though, you shouldn't have stretch problems, o-ring or non o-ring.

Ran the non O-chain on my banshee and had to tighten it after every trip. Went O-ring and never had the problem again. I'll never go back. Worth the extra money to avoid the hassle.

Go /w/ the "O" ring or buy the cheap ones every couple rides but don't come cryin when you break a chain and it eats up your cases . Not that it will happen but it might . like Fireball said non "O" ring chains are for race use only , and thats cause they through them away after 1 race .

Go with the O-ring chain. Be sure to look at your sprockets, if they are worn the new chain will go bad faster. I put a non O-Ring chain on once and it lasted 3 weekends. Some of you mail order stores have the chain and sprockets for the same price as a chain at the bike shops.

Well it sounds like the o-ring or x-ring is the way to go, thanks for all the info.

I RUN THE NON O RING BECAUSE I WANT EVERY LITTLE BIT OF HORSEPOWER I CAN GET OUT OF MY BANSHEE. I TEAR UP CHAINS AND SPROKETS AND I RUN THE STEEL ONE'S IN THE BACK. I AM JUST HARD ON PARTS. :dis: :dis:

All I can say is that one of the dude at Sidewinder said, “the new thing is none o-ring chains for sand”, which is just the opposite of what they told me last year. He said that the sand get trapped in the o-ring chain and that causes them to not last as long as none o-ring chains. I’m going none o-ring chain instead of the gold o-ring chain I’m currently running.

How many links are needed for a +6 swingarm on a banshee with 13/41 sprockets?
