OK I got a lil whisper today in the back of my head saying BUY PEP, BUY PEP. So my question to you all, has anyone ran both shocks and it so, comparisons??? Which do you prefer?
I saw a Raptor equipped with these shocks with A-Arms that were +1Forward and +1 or +2 wide. This thing felt ungodly plush. I am now torn between the Ohlin's and these Custom Axis which I learned are made by Penske.
Does anyone run these shocks and what is your opinion of them.

roll design a-arms with custom axis shocks, roll design sells them as a kit but they are expensive.

Same question for rear, inthe pic of the Lobo Raptor it looks as if the front is wider, is that the case?

I read in Dirt WHeels that Axis are pretty damn good, and that the Axis has a larger OD Shaft making it STRONGER.

Wider will make it more stable(aka less tippy when you turn).

Definately go +2 a arms and a RPM or LSR +4 axle. Much more stable at high speeds also. I love my set-up.

Apr 10 2003, 06:17 PM
If you don't have a friend that races the mx nationals call wayne at pep.i don't think they give deals unless you are a very good atv mxer and sometimes that doesn't help.My friend is pro and he got a small discount and good service on his shocks.good luck

Okay here....lets get the poor guy more bang for his bucks.
Custom Axis and PEP are both awesome shocks, are very expensive and require servicing either by the company or one of a few folks that can. read more $$$$ They are also pro-or competition level....which means, if you are just cruising, not racing or leaping, then why drop 3K on shocks?
On the shocks, a very good alternative is Works performance with Duoble Rate springs and remote resorvoirs. These shocks are quite a bit cheaper in price and are easier to service (@200 for all three) Many folks use them for racing in the desert as well as playing in the dunes.
DEfinitely get the wider axle and the +2 wider +1 forward arms....the ride will be unbleiveable! Try Ricky Stator or Lonestar for these products. Once again it's what you need versus what you can spend.
The Raptor will be a much more stable bike once you put these suspension mods on it. Don't get caught up in looking like the pros...buying the best doesn't necessarily mean you're going to get your money's worth.
But if money was no object...Custom Axis!!

I have Wave's on my R1 now and I went with an EBC HH pad so I can't really say how much teh rotors helps but over all. Dayummm, I can late brake all the guys I ride with. The Wave rotors/EBC HH pads make a monster difference. Feels like I am braking a 250GP bike now. Very confidence inspiring.
And if you like to do stoppies this makes it a breeze.
Very nice website... Me likes...
