El Centro BLM to accept Applications for ISDRA TRT

January 24, 2006 - The Bureau of Land Management’s (BLM) El Centro Field Office is accepting applications for representatives to serve on the Imperial Sand Dunes Recreation Area (ISDRA) Technical Review Team (TRT), which provides input to the El Centro Field Office on prioritizing the ISDRA Recreation Management Plan implementation schedule and the use of fees collected at the ISDRA.

The appointees will represent California and Arizona off-highway vehicle (OHV) interests and economic interests. The counties will appoint county representatives, and a member of the California Desert District Advisory Council will be appointed by that group to serve on the TRT. All returning members will be on a one-year term and new members will be on a two year term.

The TRT meets twice a year. The meetings are usually held in late January and late July. The meetings are held at the BLM office in El Centro between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. during the week and usually last between 4 to 6 hours. Two conference calls may also be scheduled during the week between the hours of 9 a.m. and 4 p.m., if needed to discuss pertinent issues.

Applications must be received by April 30, 2006 and may be submitted online at www.ca.blm.gov/elcentro or to Neil Hamada, Imperial Sand Dunes Recreation Area manager, by email at nhamada@ca.blm.gov or by FAX (760) 337-4490. Applications may also be mailed to the Bureau of Land Management ATTN: Neil Hamada, 1661 S. 4th St, El Centro, CA 92243.

The seats that are up for selection by the BLM are the 5 OHV representatives. 4 from California and 1 from Arizona.

The remaining 4 seats will continue to be appointed by the bodies they represent. Yuma County, Imperial County, Desert Advisory Council, and United Desert Gateway (for economic interests).

The TRT provides input to the BLM El Centro Field Office on the prioritization of the Imperial Sand Dunes Recreation Area management plan implementation schedule, and the use of use fee funds collected in the ISDRA to complete specific projects in the schedule."
