i was running mohawks on my 400ex, they worked ok, but the front end was very light on the 400 so it didnt turn very well. for my new predator, im going to run sand tire unlimited razorbacks.

I prefer none of em. Id rather go with my knobbies. I cut off all of the side lugz and just left a center row. Seems to work like a charm. Well then again it just might be cuz im a cheap ass.

Running dunetrackers on my R right now, they seem to work well. Never ran mohawks, so I couldn't tell yah which is better....

remember with teh dunetrackers and razor backs you can reverse the tires and get more or less steering output

I've used most of them but would go with the razorbacks if i were to use that kind of tire again. Right now I run smoothes, but that's because I ride a two stroke and steer with the back more then the front...

Dune Tracker's are the heavyist front tire besides knobbies mohawks are much lighter and smoothies are the lightest . Sal I believe you ride a DS , You will have a hard time telling a noticable differance between all three. All are a step up from stock knobbies. Just make sure you put them on the blue label rims . Personaly I like the look of the mohawk thats why I run them on my bike.

Don't get those Dune Trackers. Go with the Sand Tires Unlimited Razorbacks. Razorbacks on a Douglas wheel weigh less than a Dune Tracker tire alone. The guy at Daryll Smith Sand Tires went on for 5 minutes about how much better the S.T.U. are. The Dune Tracker is just a cheap imitation. Spend a little more for the quality. After all, The front tires will last forever. I got mine on douglas' for $220 I think from Daryll Smith in Lemon Grove.

IV'E RUN THE DUNETRACKERS, TO HEAVY AND SEEMED TO PLOW THROUGH THE SAND. KNOBIES SUCK IN THE SAND. MOHAWKS (THE SMALLER ONE'S) WORK GREAT PLUS THERE LITE, SMOOTHIES ARE COOL TOO, BUT MOHAWKS ARE THE WAY TO GO.

Thanks Kevin.
Question, why no tjust run full band of raised tread all the way around instead of that design O_O_O_O_ ??? Is there a reason for one over the other?

Sal I would go for the 22's instead of the 21's . (Just my opinion)

Rub'r, no in all honesty I was being serious. What is the rationale or reasoning for his advice for going with 21's or 20's??? I am trying to learn all I can, but thanks for the opportunity for another post, who am I to turn down such an offer.

ww I was messing around with Sal he already has 21's and he is thinking about the 22's. They float better.

By Float you mean, that your quad will have a sensation of pushing more??? IE Less Bite??

Bite isnt decreased, just the front end rides higher in the sand with 22's. I prefer Mohawks myself. All of the quads I have ridden with razorbacks(of which Dune Trackers are a cheaper knockoff), every little bump I hit or every time I even thought about moving the handle bars, the quad tried to turn on me. I just got tired of fighting it all the time.

Do you have a steering damper?

No, and the quads werent mine, just friend's that I jonesed a ride from. Why spend money on tires AND a damper when you could just get the 'hawks and not worry about it? Some people like the fact their quad turns instantly with the razors. I didnt, but thats just me.

wetwork, number one reason for running either razors or mohawks is weight, they're lighter. they also dont throw sand in your face like knobbies sometimes do.
