What PSI is everyone running in their fronts and rears, and what sizes and what Quad?
~A
WW999 I don't really know how much psi I'm running... I just push down on them and think to myself "that feels right"... probably like 3 or 4?!?
Hey AFTERMARKET... are haulers really that hard to dune with?? I'm debating whether to get haulers or the edge from skat trak... is there a big difference between the edge from skat trak and the sand skate?? they're the same design right, just different makers and material??? are the edge or sandskates cool for racing (nothing serious, of course.. just for fun)

Sal, same PSI front and rear? and is that 3 - 4 PSI?
Thanks in advance.

I run 4 psi in my hauler paddles and 6 psi in smooth buff fronts. You just bring a good air pressure gauge and a source of air to figure out what you like. Different bikes, different tires, and different riders all like different pressures.
Sal, I like my 8 paddle haulers but want to slide more. I have to use all kinds of body english to get my banshee to turn and have ridden Docs banshee with sand skates and it turned much better. I will use skat trak edge paddles next. As long as a paddle doesn't come off, they will outlast the sand skates much longer.

cool... thanks... So, Ben, would you recommend 8 paddle edges??? by looking at the tire, its hookup doesn't seem like it would be a lot less than the hauler...

Sal the major differance between the Sand Skate & the Edge is wieght . The molded tires are allways going to be heavy compared to the buffed down type like the edge . The biggest disadvantage of the Edge is it's not as puncture resistant . Personaly I run 20X10-8 Haulers /w/ 8 paddles & 21X7-10 mohawks and have no problemo turning the bike .

You might want to look at 10\" rims as well being a bigger guy on that beast of yours you might not want all that side loading in the tire that you would get /w/ 8\" rims .
have we met?? hahah... no, I don't want 8" rims... I already have geckos on 10" rims... I don't see too much wrong with them... they've worked just great for me, but I do want to try something different. Skat trak does make the edge... it's the same tire as the hauler but with different shaped paddles... I want to stick to skat trak and not the molded tires because I have noticed that they are a lot lighter. Just wanted to know the difference between hook ups on them....

Yeah Sal, 8 paddle edges. When I rode Docs banshee, It seemed like they only hooked up well at a certain speed. Out of the hole, they didn't hook up as well as haulers do but once the bike got going in second, they started to grip and the bike took off. The turning more than made up for it as you could hold the bike sideways around a turn with the v paddles where the haulers would try to send you straight. My haulers are 6 years old and show very little wear so I will be using them for awhile but when the time comes to replace them, edges will go on.
Several people here on the board have tried skat traks and have lost paddles. I have lost one cup off of my dirtbike paddle but I had ridden over concrete a short distance which Skat Trak says is a no no. You should be fine as long as you stay off the concrete.

If your going with v shaped get the skate 2's. I've tried those and the edge's and I preferred the skate's. They're not that much heavier just use a .125 rim in the rear. As for the fronts I've used the mohawks and the razors and think they both perform well. The razors float more. I'm now using mohawks, and 21x11x8 8 paddle haulers and love the set up. No it doesn't turn as well but I can still throw it around pretty well. But the haulers just hook up so much more!!

I've got haulers on the R now. I don't like the way they run, my roosting abilities are to a minimum. I'm just way to cheap to go out and buy some sand skate 2's. they like 300 bucks on rims nowadays.

I run the Sand Skate 2's and swear by them. Great all around performance. 3 to 4 psi and your good to go. My favorite thing to do is bring my bike out there with the stock tires on it and go for a couple rides and slide around on the stockers for awhile. Then put the paddles on and head for the hills.

I had nothing but problems with the sandsharks. I traded them out for a set of SandskateII at 5 PSI on my DS650. I am very happy with them. If you want a good deal and ALL of your questions answered give these people a call. Talk to Joe. Fullerton Sand Sports (714)484-5996.

on my 400ex i started out with 9 paddle haulers 20x10x10, i didnt like how the low profile tire rode(to bumpy) so i got a set of 21x12x8 8paddle edges, they ride softer but dont turn worth a crap (tire height and sidewall might have something to do with it).
for my predator, i am debating about skate 2's and the new extreme hauler from skat, the predator turns so quick as it is i dont know which to go with.

look into a grooved desert mini trak form sand tires unlimited. thsi is what i currently run and it get the best of both worlds... also the short padle height gives great performance on the top end, wont bog down the motor.

If you are going to run the Edges, you can get 10 paddle. I had some and liked them, but run haulers now.

On my 250R I like to use 8 paddle Hauler's on 20x10x10's in the rear at 4psi. In the front I run Smooth buff's on 21x7x10's at 5psi. This is a good setup and works well for me.
To make the Douglas blue label rim's lighter I have had lighting hole machine into them. It also gives the rims a custom look.
Some of you guy might want to look into the machining of the rim's to lose some tire weight if you feel yours are to heavy. :burn:
