Here's is our Sand Truck video we made. It's our second attempt at video editing so it's not perfect but we're working on it. We know it's a little blurry and the video is a small screen, but we're just trying to figure things out still.
We want to thank jhitesma for all of his advice on which computer and all the neccessary extras that we needed to have.
It's a royal pain in the ass. It took us 15 hours just to do this little video!
We plan on redoing everything again with a firewire cable. We could only use our USB this time around.
So for now.......Here it is......Enjoy!

is it a sand truck or a drive in a staight line through whoops truck...
no offense, badd A$$ truck...
but how about a pic of it coming over a razor back or a pic of it running a big bowl, the wall? olds?
how about coming up over a ridge into an unforseen witches eye, and having to power through it...
or transitions coming down or going up steep faces?
A cool shot would be a video with a line of buggies..
How about the big bowl half way between olds and the wall (straight out from wash 17)???
or bottoming out with sand coming up over the front hood....
I think most videos are too set-up and don't show what I want to see...I want to see a car/truck pushed to it's limits in real driving situations....

would have been nice to see these things in the dunes instead of 5 min of straight line whoop running.

I agree, but we all know nobody wants to stop in the middle of a dune ride to get out and shoot a couple minutes of footage. You would have to do that many times to get a feel for the different terrain. I noticed that most videos are of the drags, hills, jumping, etc. unless they are onboard cameras.

Like I said before. I am still learning how to edit video.I have that kind of footage. I just dont know how to do it yet, I am working on it. I am using real basic editing software and cant get all that fancy. It is was it is. Like I said before, that took 15 hours to make. Rediculous amount of time. I would have rather rebuilt a carburator while being blindfolded with one arm tied behind my back and with a huge hangover. That wouild have been more fun then doing this video. They will get better, I promise.
Does anyone have any advice on how to make the video screen bigger and not blurry while viewing it.
Thanks

I think the video was messing up. It seams like the middle section kept repeating over, and over, and over, and over again. The begining and end were cool, sweet truck, I like the front end float over the hill...........

We are using a dell e 510 with nero vision express 2 software ( the cheap stuff - $100 ). It is real basic software . You cannot clip video out and insert somewhere else. You can pretty much trim parts out in the order that they are on the video tape. When you are creating chapters, you can move the chapters around but not individual clips. Our software is not that fancy. What do you recommend about the small screen and the blurry video? On our computer we can watch it on a big screen , but when we try to upload it to other sites we have to make it smaller ( compress the video ) to send it. What do we do so it can be viewed on a bigger screen?
Thanks for the help.

Without getting all technical.......How much RAM does the Dell have?......Lots of Ram and a faster processor, min 3 Gig would help the editing time.
I'm not familiar with the software you are using.....I use Adobe Premiere or Final Cut Pro. Once you have the clip edit'd the way you like it. You should have different output and compression settings for the final export. Blurry video is probably from compression settings and screen size can be adjusted at time of export. Larger screen sizes and less compression means your final video will look nice but the file size will be HUGE! Try different compressions and output sizes to see which works best. Also, unless your software can adjust for it, remember the quality of you final video will only be as good as the original source video.
Sorry for the long post....help it helps. email me if you have more questions.

Couldn't make out the words but did it say 60 over the woops or what. I clocked a DD car while I was driving to vender row next to sand hwy at over 80 on gps speedo in my truck. I was next to him from just past Gecko to Osborne. If it was only 60 doesn't seem to impressive to me. If it was faster than that I retract my statement.

It does say 60 mph, thats not as fast as it can go though. Its not like we had all the room in the world. As you can see we were approaching camps and didnt want to jeopardize anyones safety. I guess you just cant please all the people all the time. How fast can your rail go over the same whoops?

Looking at the video from a cenimatic point of view, I think they captured the nuances of whoops and speed. The filmmaker and director worked well together and the driver transposed the thrill of the ride directly to the viewer.
I think the sequel,
Bad A$$ Trucks in the Dunes will be a block buster and will thrill the audience with incredible sound, picture and that I can almost feel the sand in my face kind of experience.
I looked at those trucks at the SSSS, sure would love a ride in one. Maybe one of you would like to offer a ride before the grand premier of the sequel.
Ok I'll stop, very cool video, had no idea it took that much time to edit. My hats off to you
