1ST Black Widow
I do not think we are capable of cleaning up after ourselves. I picked up 4 car batteries strewn down Gecko road on 3/6. The fees should be raised to $200.00 a year and teams of "Community servants" or Trustees should be hired to pick up trash. THIS ISSUE WILL GET US SHUT DOWN

I agree trash is a problem and that we all need to be concerned.

I do not agree with raising fees because of trash.

And I have one question in response to "this issue will get us shut down" (not directed at 1st Black Widow... it's not the first time that's been said).

What caused the 49,000 acre closures that are still in place?

The answer is not trash.

I like the idea of chaingangs though...

Actually it is much cleaner then it was 5 years ago,
And it seems to get cleaner every year.

I remember when the bottom of Comp had batteries and tires in it.
EZ ups and thousands of cans at the base of olds.
tents, tarps, chairs, and household garbage used to be all over the camp areas. And bottles and cans were just about anywhere in the dunes where people would take breaks.

It is definately cleaner now.

I do too. Surely something like this could fit into a work program for one of the nearby prisons?

And was done until around 2000 IIRC. The prison labor was then taken away. I seem to remember the prison raising an issue about prisoners finding too many actual or potential weapons for it to be worth their risk to have them out there. But I can't remember my source so I'm not positive I remember the excuse exactly.

(I've raised this question of several officials at several times and gotten various answers - usually a basic "They used to but can't any more. Don't know why".)

I just don't understand why people can't pick up after themselves. angryfire.gif It makes me sick when we are out and there is trash littering the dunes. Pick it up people.

I am usually there on monday, and its terrible at Olds. The Flats are bad too. Comp is filled with broken glass. We should have trash bins at Olds. lol
