Have a Funco Big 5, and replacing seat belts, whats your opinions on type, individual 3" harnesses, or the "y" type, the car is not tabbed for a bolt in so its set up for a wrap around. currently I have 3" "y" type.
sandking
Add tabs and get the true 5-point 3" belts.

I personaly think the wrap around type are stronger, just for the simple fact your not going to break a chromoly bar but with a tab your putting all that stress on one weld. I am just not sure to use the "y" type or 3" individuals

With the "Y" belt, you have your whole upper body onto one location of the chassis. With the individual belts, you have two. Just my $.02 you asked for it icon_biggrin.gif

I heard about belts that you could tighten up at the lap by pulling up, instead of down. I called Crow, and they said no problem. They said all is you have to do is give them some measurements. As for the shoulders, go with 2 wrap arounds. More material can only be better.

I like the 5 point individual straps instead of the Y type. And I like to wrap around the tube instead of using a tab for the shoulder harness.

I have the true 5 pt. harness from Crow and absolutely love them, I also have adjustable headrests so the 2 belts come over the seat nicely instead of through one slit. But I think the true 5 points are the way to go.

I just finished installing these belts in my Funco, Teamtech Motorsports Ram Pac harnesses. They have a sterum strap along with chest and pelvic pads. Sat in the car and tried them on, very snug fit with all the padding, almost to the point where it's hard to breathe with them cinched down tight. Belt are very well made and seem to be a much better harness than the Crow's I was running. No knock against Crow, my old belts held up well, it was just time for some new one's. icon_biggrin.gif

I also have these belts on my car. They feel very snug and secure. I also like the added safety of the sternum strap.

My buddies on quads have to wait a little extra time while I buckle and sinch myself and passenger in my car (not to mention extra time for wrist restraints), but the extra minute is no biggie. "Go on ahead, I'll catch up!" evil.gif burnout.gif
