A friend of mine tore down a Blaster last night that broke a piston skirt. In checking/cleaning the crankcase he noticed there was a shim/washer on one side of the rode where it attaches to the crank and not on the other side. Seems odd to me. Should there be one on each side of the rod?

Thrust washers are what you are looking at .

One per side , they hold oil , to prevent wear .

What Stone said and I think the washers are suppose to be on a certain side of the jug. Do you have a manual???
