Anyone know the weight difference? I'm guessing about 60 pounds.
SanDollars
I can't remember who told me, but I think it's more like 120 lbs.

If you are talking about the Northstar, Funco lists them at 30lbs apart:

I've never heard of a short star--I thought you were just sarcastically renaming the north star. I learned something today!

Interesting to me that the LS1 n/a is listed at 480 LBS.

I remember that the typical number for the all-Iron small block Chevy was 575 Lbs.

How could it be less than a hundred pound difference from an all-Iron block engine to an all-Aluminum?

BeachHead
journeyman...that 480lb weight for the ls1 is "fully dressed" for sand car installation. Adapter plate, clutch, headers, throttle body, alternator, p/s pump, even the air filter. I'd guess your number for the cast small block might be for a long block??
richierichaz
Then dose anybody know the "fully dressed" weight of a short star then?
bsbuggymike
fully dressed sort star 400lb
journeyman
Not sure on that beach.

It is just the number that sticks in my mind. Would make sense if only a long block. Probably put the dressed figure nearer 675
