Mister Ed
Ok, I haven't been an active duner since the 4 strokers have made a comeback, or a start, or whatever one may call it. I haven't been able to see all the new stuff in action for a while, so Wheelie me this, Evil, lets take a mild breathed on 250 R(say a 310 built right, CT style) and put it up against a stock predator. Power, handeling, bottom, top, mid, how do they stack up? None of the mags seem to want to compare apples and oranges, so I figure it is up to the duneatics. Feedback PLEASE.
STUCK IN BAMA"MR ED"
DUNE
Eddy hows it going in Bama town. I think the Predator is a good quad and I would get one if I we're in the market for a new bike. But I don't think it's a match for a 310R.

You are right about Apple's and Orange's, the 4 stroke it just doesn't have that snap the 2 stroke has. But it does have the power it just take a little more time getting there. :cheese:

Hey we missed you out in G this last week, maybe see you next season. beer.gif beer.gif beer.gif beer.gif :burn:
Kevin
hey mr ed, tom was just scared to run my predator against the pimp moblie  , i can tell you though, that i was able to beat a couple banshees up comp with toomey t-5's and filter kits with my stock predator.
DUNE
No Kev my Quad is in a hole new class now. It's in with Oil-4-fun and the patriot oil pumper. All my seals are gone now and the rings to but I must say I got my moneys worth out of them. 8 seasons on the rings and 17 years on the seals. Look like it's time to see Allen over at C.T. Racing for a complete over haul. Someone said go big or go home and you know I am not staying home.
Mister Ed
I keep hearing good stuff about the thumper, but I would have a hard time letting go of that much cash on a thumper. I guess I rode 2 strokes for too many years. Although, if they try to phase out the 2 strokes from using BLM land...well, too bad one can't see the future before their next purchase. Tom, what do you need with something bigger? What you have is quite enough for your riding style. Save your bucks and send them to me so I can get started again. Hey, I may be coming out in October for a class reunion. If I do we will have to get together. icon_bouncy.gif icon_bouncy.gif icon_bouncy.gif
DUNE
Eddy, the get together sounds good, will joyce and the kids be coming out too? Oh and a few weeks ago I saw a real nice stock 86 250R for sale in the cycle trader for $2,250. Man I almost bought it thinking of you but I know you want an 88.
Robbie
Eddie,
Get in touch with me when you get out here.
I'll hook you up with a 400 Ex for a Glamis trip whenever you want.
And if you're ever looking for a job, I think we can fit you in around here.
Mister Ed
I will be making the trip by myself as far as I know. The boys will be in school and Joyce may have a new dental job by then. Tomorrow is her last day with the state job, she is pretty sick of it and has had enough. Yes you are correct about the 250 Tom. An 88 or 89 is all I really want. I could go for an older one if it were a killer deal but I don't see many of them on any year unless it is a total basket case. Hey Robbie, I may have to take you up on the 400 for sure. I am getting the can't ride jitters again. If you can get me a job riding quads at Glamis, I will take it as well. Could you imagine that, getting paid to ride the dunes; life should be so good.

Mister Ed
SAL
isn't an 86 250R the year to have?? I don't know much about them...
Kevin
88-89's are more preferable from what i have been told by many.
Mister Ed
If you were to sit on an 86 and an 88 you would notice that you sit higher on the 88; verses the feeling of sitting in it, as the 86 feels. I preferred my 88's feel compared to the 86. I guess that is all a matter of personal choice. There are also some differences in the swing arm and the front end.
Mister Ed
I had an 86 ATC and that motor flat out hauled booty with just a pipe and filter. Now take an 88 quad frame and put in an 86 engine and let the good times roll. Question Does anyone know if the motors were the same for the 86 ATC verses the 86 Quad? I have heard stories that the 4 wheelers were a bit de-tuned that year, anyone know the facts on this one?
DUNE
I have not heard anything about de-tuned. I do know that the ATC was faster do to not having to drag that fourth wheel around. But I will tell you one thing that fourth wheel has saved my ass more times then not. If I was still riding my old three wheeler I would have been wadded up a long time ago:D
