Hey, I have a 2001 banshee. My ex-boyfreind did all the work on it but we have since split up. I still have my bike but it has been sitting for about a year. I have tried to kick it and it won't start. So i suppose the gas and oil is bad. How do i change it. Can i just take the gas tank off? What else is involved in this process. Thanks for all the help.

Quickchic: First, take the fuel line off your carbs and open the petcock to drain the fuel into an old coffee can or tub. If it won't drain, the petcock might be plugged so you'll have to take it apart to clean the crud out. Have your folks mix this in a little bit at a time in the family lawnmower to burn it off. Don't run it in the car!

Now, you'll need to loosen the clamps holding the carbs onto the intake and air boots. Rotate a carb till you can loosen and remove the screws holding the float bowl on to the bottom of the carb and remove the float bowl. You might have to remove the throttle cable to rotate the carb or even remove the carb totally.

Once you remove the float bowl, remove both the pilot jet and main jet and spray them out with carb cleaner or compressed air. Now shoot carb cleaner into any exposed holes in the carb and around the needle valve. Install the jets, making sure to be carefull when tightening them. They are made of of brass and strip easily. Reinstall the floatbowl and throttle cable, tighten the clamp and go to the next carb. Repeat the above steps, fill with fresh pre-mix and see if the damn thing will start. That should do it.
