I will try to get right to the point.
It was Dec. 29th, 2005.
New years trip to the dunes with the family.
It was just about dusk, my son, Brennen and his friend wanted to go watch the drags, we had just got everything pretty much set up. I said why not, be careful and go 15 M.P.H. in the flats.
Well two 14 year old boys on quads wont go 15 in the flats 25bangin.gif
About 100 yards out of vendors row, and about 150 yards from the drags, My son found a pit bike track, and launched 4th gear pinned.
He was killed instantly.
There happened to be a couple in a copper color golf cart. The woman was a nurse, and started C.P.R. on my son, sent his friend back to camp for me, and called the E.M.S.
He was dead for roughly two minutes, she " OUR ANGEL ", managed to get his vitals back.
He was Air-Evaced to, Yuma, then straight to Barrows in Phx.
After 5 days at barrows, the Neuro's told us that he would be a high maint. vegetable the rest of his life.
As of today he has made remarkable progress, and continues to do so. He is back in school, full time, and doing great. He is just about 98% of his former self.
Wicked.Good, and I joined this board a month or so ago, hoping we could find this wonderful person, we have not had much luck, so I felt I needed to make this post, to see if any of you folks might know who this is. I really feel That I need to thank her for the second chance she gave my son.
All I know is that she had a slight accent, kinda tall, blond hair, is a nurse, married?, with a copper or tan golfcart, Oh yeah, by sons friend remembers that she had big boobs icon_smile.gif
I hope someone on this board knows this person, she is our real ANGEL
Thank you for your help

AMEN, Thats why we really need to find this person. I would gladly update that cart, or put her in the sand vehicle of her choice.
More importantly, I wanted her to know that her act of love, will never go unnoticed by the world, as long as I am here, anyway.
I owe her more than money, or words could ever say, my son really wants to find her, and give her a big hug, and thank you.
So do I. blowkiss.gif
Screamin Ian
that is just an awesome story. Did this happen up in Glamis at the Gecko drags or down south at Gordons, If it happened in the south dunes I will gladly pin this thread in that forum.

True dat, I also have a 29 foot Powerquest with twin blower motors. Up for the lake? Kinda sucks that I have to park the Sandwinder, but we have more toys in the garage. I have adopted the attitude that life is for today, because who knows how it will change tomorrow. Have to give my kid the props on that one.
P.M. me and well hit the frosties drinkup.gif

P.S.
Dave is a great guy, but dont ever let him know I told you that, It will go to his head. And that is big enough as it is. rotf.gif

2whlsrfunr
that is the best damn story i have heard in a long time as far as the nurse goes man you described my wife to a T but we dont go to gordons so it was'nt her sorry and good luck in the search.
QueenGlamis
Wow, Gives me goosebumps and tears to my eyes. Ever think that maybe they just happened to be there for that reason? I certainly hope you find her, I know it makes their heart warm to know how their patients come out, especially with the awesome turnaround you were blessed with. icon_biggrin.gif hug.gif Kids are tough, God has a plan, and he sends in his Angels when He needs them. Barrows is a top notch hospitial and to prove them wrong is nothing short of a miracle. You should also make the trip to Phoenix to thank any special Dr's or Nurses you had here. icon_biggrin.gif Is her name on the incident report? Just a thought...
QueenGlamis
PS-I think you should submit this story in the Glamis Heros forum. She may be nameless at this point, but the best "hero" story I have heard in a very long time.
Screamin Ian
Queen, it is in the glamis heros forum too, I moved and pinned it here so hopefully more eyes will see it that go to gordons.

I lost my son on this past Christmas day, four days prior.... and I am sitting here right now crying reading your story. Im so glad you have your son to hold and to love.
I would hate it if anyone had to go thru what I am right now..... Wow I guess I really needed to let this out cause Im balling right now....

God Bless
hope you find her

oh, and Im a surgical tech... every now and then its so cool to get recognition for all I do for a patient. She will love that your looking for her.
Wicked.Good
From what I recall, she had an English accent, and the golf cart (I thought) was black with flames, utility bed, with a Rottie in the back. She did have blonde hair, and Brennen's friend is right, she was rather well endowed. I know they came back by our camp before the weekend was over, and asked our friends who had stayed about Brennen.

I posted about this several months ago, but no one then knew who she was. I hope that if they aren't members, someone will remember her or her husband tellilng the story. We really would like to tell her thank you.
JET
Wow, a truly remarkable story. And it has a happy ending. Or a happy continuance might be a better term.

I hope you find her.
pipelayer
Wicked may be right, It may have been black with flames.
I was in total shock, so I wasnt really paying attention to anything around me. I was trying to help the E.M.T keep my son alive, we had to yell at him and pinch him all the way to the helicopter, he kept going into a coma.
I hope the new info helps, now that we have it right maybe someone will know this good dune dooby.

P.S. Queen, We do live in phx. and we were at Barrows for 5 weeks, they are great!

P.S.S. Angel, I have read some stuff about you, and your son, Very Sorry to hear that. Sounds like your son may have turned out to be the Dune Angel that was put out there that day to protect my son. Just a thought. I sure hope so, you should be very proud. 25biggrinangela.gif

What an awesome story. Glad to hear things are going well for your son. Hope you find the nurse who helped your son but even if you don't, I applaud your efforts to do so. Thanks for sharing this event. It is always good to hear great news. thumb.gif
Predator Chick
Glad to hear your son is OK. That was really hard to read having a child myself and knowing he is crazy out there also.

I go to Gordons and will keep an eye out next season if you don't find her by then.

I wonder if theres a nurse registry that can send out a memo or something. Don't know just suggesting.

Good Luck with your search.

To get copy of incident report: (which it might or might not help, I know when I did CPR on someone at work they didn’t take any info from me, but yours was an accident so they might have her name)

http://www.blm.gov/ca/elcentro/ImperialSandDunes/qanda.html

Not sure if these people will help but I figure it might be worth calling them to see if they would be willing to put a memo out or provide you with a mailing list of health care facilities.

Good Luck, I really do hope you find her because I’m sure she would love to know that your son made it.
pipelayer
I will definately do that.
