Depending on what Tach you have....I have an Autometer you can download the directions....I have a V6 in my car and you need to cut one of the wires so it can read it correctly....hope this helps.

On my Autometer monster tach I cut the brown wire for v6 pirate.gif

First off, you need to know what wire from the computer will control the tach. I dont know about your motor, but on my LS1, I had to set the tack on the 4 cyl mode in order for it to work without the tack adaptor. It works great.

blk=ground
red=ignition power
white=illumination power
green=tach input

depending on what computer you have the tach output can be different colors.
you might also be able to tap into a coil pack wiring for tach output if needed, but most aftermarket computers have a provision for tach. You will need 2 cut the appropriate loop wires or flip the switches inside according to number of cylinders.
