do they do good port work for let's say... a banshee??
MWBbanshee
A friend of mine had work done there , it's not that he is unhappy /w/ the work he just had major complaints /w/ there customer service . Maybe things have changed .Talk to alot of shops about what you want fixing a bad port job is not so easy sometimes. and by bad I mean not what you were expecting.
good luck
Mister Ed
I had them do all my stock cylinder and my pro-X cylinder. I was happy with the performance but here is the story. When I had them do my stock cylinder to national kit(268cc) everything went good until I broke it in. The first time I was wide open the piston stuck, not a seisure but close. The problem was air getting in through the crank seals leaned it out. Allan felt bad so he gave me a new crank, seals, and blueprinted my gears for free. The problem really was not his fault but he helped me out. Now when I got my 310 cylinder everything went great; no complaints on that job at all. Now, back to the stock cylinder..When I took it off I noticed a crack on the intake area from not enough metal being left after porting, but it never hurt anything. Not sure of his Banshee work though. Most people seem to go to Harry at Trinity for Banshees.

I’ve raced fast CT engines, and I’ve raced slow ones. In my opinion the thing to do is take the cylinder or whatever parts you need worked off first, then take or ship them to CT. Then when you get the parts back you’ll be able to see exactly what they did.

But you’ll need the skills to bolt the parts on as well as work the bugs out. If you don’t have the skills to figure out what set-up you want, take the parts off, bolt them back on and dial the carburetor in don’t get the engine ported, stay with the stock set-up.

My 2 cents.

I have been dealing with Allen at C.T. for the last 18 years and have had his Nat'l kit in my bike for the past 8 years. As far as being happy with his work there is no one else I would take my quad to. But one thing you must understand about Allen is money if you are not talking money he doesn't have time for you.

Right now I'm getting ready to take my motor down to C.T. for a complete engine over haul. A new top end and all new seals and bearing also to have my gears check out. They gave me a quoted of 475 bucks I think that is reasonable. I will let you know how it turns out when I get it back.

Oh and one more thing if you do take your quad to him and he does the work, he will give you a brake in sheet when you get it back, Fallow that sheet to the letter and your bike will last 8 seasons too. :burn:

Hey Sal have you spoke to anyone at Trinnity yet ? Best bang for the buck on a Banshee in my opinion is Trinnity . CT has been the guy's to go to for Honda's for years , Don't know anyone that has taken them a Yamaha.

No, not yet... I'm really not ready financially to port the bike yet, but just wanna get some ideas for when I do maybe this summer. Thanks MWB.

OK HERE IT IS, IF YOU HAVE A HONDA GO TALK TO ALLEN AT CT. IF YOU WANT PROBLEMS WITH YOUR BIKE GO TALK TO HARRY AT TRINITY. IF YOU WANT GOOD WORK GO TALK TO GLEN AT ATOMIC IN CORONA AKA WICKED ATV. HE USED TO WORK FOR TRINITY AND QUIT, (GEE WONDER WHY  ) GLEN WILL DO SOME GREAT WORK FOR YOU.
SAL
yeah, I'm thinking either Wicked ATV or Mission Yamaha in Laguna Niguel. I know that Ted Boyko does some killer work over there. I don't know how competitive their prices are, however.
DUNE
From what I hear Glen at Wicked quit Trinity because of a fight that him and Harry got into, ever sense then trinity has been in the dumps. Glen was harry's main engine builder.

Sal, if I was you I would take your bike to Wicked. I like Harry and luv his wife Jo but I wouldn't take my bike to trinity for any engine work...

On the other hand Bam Bam loves there work maybe Glen did his topend. :dis:

Does Wicked ATV have a website or phone number someone can post???

CT for sure, Allen is a great guy. His staff is cool, and I love the work that they did on my banshee. I had them do what they called a motocross port, and it really made the bike haul butt. I would never take anything to Trinity, they are a nightmare to deal with. Oh yea, don't forget the V Force reeds.

PORT WORK IS AN ART. ALL THESE SHOPS THAT GIVE THERE PORT WORK NAMES, I DON'T KNOW. I.E. MOTOCROSS PORT WORK OR DUNE PORTING WHAT NONSENSE! WHEN YOU HAVE PORT WORK DONE YOU NOT ONLY REWORK THE INTAKE PORT BUT YOU CHANGE THE PORT TIMING. THAT IS DONE IN DEGREES. YOU CHANGE THE HIEGHTS AND WIDTHS OF YOUR TRANSFER AND EXHAUST PORTS. DEPENDING ON YOUR WIEGHT, FOR A BANSHEE IF YOUR AN AVERAGE SIZE GUY 87 DEGREES WORKS AWESOME WITH 200LBS OF COMPRESSION. BUT YOU WILL NEED TO RUN RACE FUEL. I'M A BIGGER GUY SO I WENT WITH MORE TORQUE 85 DEGREE PORT TIMING WITH 205 LBS OF COMPRESSION AND STRAIGHT RACE FUEL. MY BIKE RUNS EXCELLENT.

Sal, how about going out of state?? I happen to be very good friends with a respected porter/engine builder up here in Oregon. http://www.macracinginc.com (503)390-0094 He can build it however you want it. Plus, hes cheaper than anyone in Cali. No sales tax up here to worry about, plus lower overhead.

Sparks Racing just lost one of their riders to the Competition...

I believe the only thing you set by how much you weigh is your suspension.I believe degrees in port timing relates to where your intake and exhaust open and close on a 2- stroke. The powerband is either low r.p.m., mid, or high.Higher compression ,bore size, port timing, ignition timing, and exhaust or expansion chamber dimension all effect power.

Thanks, Shane! I might just consider that. smile.gif

HILLSBRO, PORT TIMING ALSO EFFECTS YOUR TRANSFER PORTS. YOU CAN F- OFF A SET OF CYLINDERS REAL FAST IF YOU SLIP IN THE TRANSFER PORTS.

I wouldnt piss on Alan over at CT if he was on fire. The Pipe he built for the raptor was untuneable and when I called him and asked him how to jet my bike for his pipe his attitude was shity. I hope he realizes how important service and attitude is.I had my 686 done at Trinity and if I had to do it again I would go elsewhere. It ran good but not great and I think if you support your local shop you'll get better response and service once your shop realizes you'll fly his stickers on your quad.
DUNE DEMON
CT DOEN'T MAKE THIER OWN PIPE, THE COMPANY THAT MAKES PIPES FOR CT ALSO DOES THEM FOR TRINITY, FTZ AND ENGINE TRIX.
Poiks
I had no problems with Trinity when they did my Banshee, and the thing was bulletproof. The only problem dealing with Harry is that he talked my ear off! And this experience was after Glen left.

I've also heard that Glen does great work.
