Planning on Aug 12 meet at tube rental place at 11am and take the long run. Kid friendly so bring the whole gang and dont forget the big cooler of cold ones

I believe so. We did the float last summer and I think I remember taking jello shooters....don't remember much more than that though

We took 4 coolers full of beer and there were only 5 of us going. I think we overkilled it for a four hour float trip.

This year I have my new waterproof camera.

Just know that it's a BLAST but if you drink you for sure need a designated driver. It's DUI central leaving there.

River Smiver.. I use to go... back in the day when it was cleaner and the weeds don't hit your A$$... I am bummed how it has went to hell in a hand basket.. I will go one time with a group and that's it!! I grew up on the river and that was the best times!! Now it's Blaaguuuuaa... I remember back in the day when we would have a party and drive off anywhere you wanted to.. Today they charge and I ask myself for effin what.. it was better back then rather than today..

We had a great time last year! We are in on this one too, if we can get someone to DD for us, we can take the Suburban (fits 8 + coolers!). Otherwise, maybe we could all meet at someones house and take a shuttle service. Hey, an expensive "cab" ride is cheaper than a DUI!!! Hell, I'd even pitch in some cashif someone volunteered the driving services! Any of you that would like to stay at the Royal Casa that Saturday night are welcome to stay, just put in your reservations.

Lets rent a bus, then get a hotel and finish what we start. Go big or stay home.
Hell, we only have one trip around this life.

I'm with you Carmenea, I remember riding a three wheeler down to the water. We would drive our trucks and park by the water and watch all the peeps. Great place to meet people back in the day!

If you start to look bored we will all take turns dumpin you in the water or something like that.

Well I know Clay's house is right around the corner from me. I am about 10 minutes from the tube place. I can probably offer up the wife to drop us off and pick us up and back to the house. We are at Power and Thomas right by the Walgreens last store.

Are you suggesting an after-party at your place or just a convenient meeting spot with a wife-shuttle to and from the tube place?

Either could work, but was offering the wife shuttle.

this really sounds like some laid back fun. I think I could get really drunk on a 3+ hour float soI might need to a seat belt for my tube.

Just remember the place is swarming with cops and they don't care if they write you a ticket for a DUI or public intoxication and everything will be fine. Nothing like sitting on a tube in 120 degree temps drinking beer for 3 hours straight with your but in 50 degree water.

I was already considering grabbing the neighbors and doing the river thing this weekend but if there's going to be a group gathering.....I'd rather wait for that. Depending on the weekend......we could make it.

It's been quite a long time since we've tubed the river and we have been talking about going this summer. We used to go with a group from my old work. One guy had a great big red radio he would trailer, yes trailer, to the river. It used 3 car batteries in the lower section that sat down in the tube and was eight sided with speakers facing in all directions. The round base section that sat on top of the tube was about 5 feet across. There were cup holders built into it all the way around it, the thing was massive. The top of the speaker housing stood 4 feet above the tube it was housed in. He had cartoon characters painted all over it and huge KUPD stickers on it. The radio station would announce on the air everytime he'd take it to the river, it truely was the "big red radio". It would take 3 guys wearing fins hanging on to it to navagate so it would end up on the bank or in the brush. The guy that owned it had painted on the bottom of one fin "SHOW ME" and on the other "YOUR TITS". He'd lift his feet out of the water every so often at women floating by. The response was pretty good. The bad part was....it was a bitch getting it from the trailer down to the river and even worse getting it back out. Fortunately it came apart in three sections plus the batteries.

We'd start off with 10 to 15 of us around the thing and by half way there'd be at least a hundred people in tubes all hanging on to each other around the thing. One huge party. You could hear it for about a 1/2 mile both ways up and down the river. There was another guy that had a yellow one that looked just like it without the stickers. One day both radios showed up and we had to stagger the start times about 30 minutes so you couldn't hear the other one. This was around 15 years ago, anybody ever see it or hook up with that group? I'll have to dig through some old photos to see if I can find any river pictures. My head hurts just thinking about the hangovers from back then.

So what weekend is the gathering?

Damn, One of the few things I miss about Phx was the Salt River.. Great times!!!

We just need to secure a sitter who is close to us or willing to sit at our house...anyone know someone RELIABLE and experienced in the 8 1/2 month old hellion department? I'm not so sure about Russ' nephew driving us. He a little bit. D@mned kids these days. We have an excursion if a bunch want to pile in, and we can secure a driver. Russ and I are off 40th st and bell. Billie, Taylor? Mike, Joyce? You guys want to head down here and then out there?

We have had a change in plans and won't be able to make the float. So sorry, but we are going camping again. We really had a hard time picking, but KG said he really wanted to go camping again, and Angel and I agreed. We have a SUPER full schedule for the next 2 months, so we wanted to go camping while we could. Make sure you guys take pics, and be safe!
