I am gonna buy a quad and I had singled it down to the Z400, but when I tell people that they tell me to get the Banshee instead. Does anyone know the major differences between these two?? Thanks

I've spent time on both of these bikes and they are both amazing. Do you plan on racing up Comp or Olds all day? If you do then the Z400 is not the bike for you. The Z400 does everything else great. Low maintanence, comfort, awesome handling, great jumper, good power, etc. I'd highly recommend the Z400 to anyone that wants to have fun in the dunes.

Don't take this as a sexist comment as I don't mean it to be. Most women that I've ridden with would prefer the Z400 over the banshee simply because the four stroke is so much easier to ride. There is no powerband to worry about, no mixing gas, and you don't have to use as much body english to control it. E start and reverse are also nice.
If you are power hungry and like to ride real fast and don't mind working to make the bike go where you want it, the banshee would be the bike for you. Nothing out there runs and sounds like a banshee. The Z400 has enough power to get you where you want to go. It's just that the banshee has more.
What kind of experience do you have riding quads?
Get a Predator. Good motor, good suspension.

get the z400!! banshee has a diff power band,i rode a banshee for the first time on easter at glamis wash 3, and i was'nt impressed!!unless your racing up olds, forget it!! the z400 is much better!! the banshee is more for hill climbing, the z is for all around fun. my kfx is only slightly slower then a banshee overall.

I don't know what banshee you were riding, but a banshee with only small mods will run circles around your kfx. You are right though, the z is a great all around bike, but don't get it twisted, the banshee is king for speed

If you can, you need to ride & try both to see the difference. They are really different rides, the Banshee is pure power, and the Z400 is a great all around bike. I run with a few guys that ride Banshees and love them, and they can beat most bikes anywhere, but that have to keep on the pipe in order to have the power ready, and that can be a real problem at times, especialy if you are leading. Keep in mind that the Banchees are twin cylinder two strokes, which means two pipes, two sets of jets, two plugs, plus you have to mix the gas. They also burn gas a whole lot faster than the 4 strokes do. Personaly, of the two you asked about, I'd pick the Z400. (FYI, I ride a Honda 400ex with a 440 kit, and like it allot.)

I think Kfx Chris is Kf Krazy!
Z400 is not even in the same mother F-ing Ballpark as a Banshee!. It ain't even the same Mother F-ing sport!

I was at a Suzuki/Kawasaki/Honda Dealership here in Vegas and I over heard the Salesman tell a potential buyer that the KFX and Z are different in several areas.
Is this true???

BANSHEE ALL THE WAY. 4 STROKES BLAH, NASTY, SLOW, HEAVY, NO POWER WHEN YOU WANT IT, NASTY NASTY NASTY! AS FOR KFX KRIS , YOU MUST NOT NO HOW TO RIDE IF YOU THINK YOUR KAWIZUKI IS A BETTER MACHINE.

slow, heavy? get a life! i admit.a banshee is a faster bike, you can make some nice h.p.with the 400,and have a better handling, more reliable machine. if all i wanted to do was go fast, i would get a banshee. i ride with banshees,a zilla,i can keep up! look over your shoulder, thats me right behind on my slow ass kfx.

Hey Wetwork the only real difference between the Z and KFX is the KFX has a black hood on the front that actually helps cut down glare when standing up riding at night. Other then the hood and plastic color they are the exact same machine.

GET A LIFE? GET A CLUE JUNIOR! THE BANSHEE IS NOT JUST A FAST BIKE, IT IS VERY RELIABLE ALSO. AS FAR AS HANDLING SO YOU NEED A LITTLE MORE BODY ENGLISH WITH THE BANSHEE, THAT JUST MEANS YOU NEED TO LEARN HOW TO RIDE. OH AND FOUR STROKES ARE SLOW AND HEAVY AND UNDER POWERED!!!

I have ridden both, if you are only going to use it in the dunes, I would get a Banshee. If you might go ridding on hardpack, I would get the Z. the Z is a better all-around bike to ride on everything. But again, the Banshee is a better duner!

Body english makes riding fun. If I wanted to sit back and cruise, I wouldn't be riding dunes.

I have the Z and really like the motorcycle rider feel and placement of the rider. Narrow seat etc... BUT there is no comparring the two when it comes to power.
The z needs $$ to go faster or be dunable.. I had to add pipe, jet, and the most significate change was taking one tooth off the front and adding two to the back to make is a solid 3rd gear duner.
The banshee needs $$ in shocks to make it ride the way the Z does, but man, when that powerband kicks in its easy to forget about the plush ride of the Z. Thing tosses WALLS of Sand in to the air.
SOOOOO... with that said, buy the famous Quadzilla LT500 and take care of them all. Plush ride (caddy of the dunes) and TONS of power with low end torque! OH.. I just happen to have one for sale to!!

a reliable bike is only the person who works and takes care of it. if you take care of your bike but ride the crap out of it is gonna be reliable. i have owned many bike in these past years and they all were reliable cuz they were maintained. so dont say that a bike isnt reliable cuz the factory has to make it reliable or it wont be safe or even sell. so its all on the owner and how much he or she repects the bike. and of course i own a banshee and yes it take alot of body english to ride it but thats the fun of riding it. cruising is for either newbs, kids, or fat old men. and im none of the above. (well fat but not old)
thats my $0.02

Wetwork I'm not sure about everywhere else but in So. Cal. dealers are trying to get more for the KFX because it's a tougher find. They are supposed to have the same MSRP though.
