I've been building my own bearing carriers because I couldn't find anything that I liked. I recently found an aluminium carrier by latest rage for $65 bucks that is fairly similiar to mine but was unsure about the strength. Was hoping you guys had some pictures of an off the shelf carrier that is similiar to mine. I could make some adjustments to my trailing arm to house another carrier. My current carrier is 3.25 wide, 4 inches in diameter with a 6.25 mounting ring. Also, I don't really trust aluminium in a part like that, what's your opinion?

Here is my current carrier...

Aluminum bearing carriers in big cars tend to oblong over time and the bearings come loose and fail due to repeated shock loads. In the little cars that you are trying to build, they should last a while though. I would recommend steel micro-stub bolt in kits through Gear One, etc.

I think an aluminum bearing carrier would work.

On a little R/C car.

On anything that's going to see some abuse, you need to go with an outboard (midboard) hub. These look like they come with a 12" dia. bearing.

Now that's a real hub.

Outboard hubs would double the weight of his cars... blink.gif

He could cut back a little on the 1/4" plate.
