I am having the complete PCI Playcar system (intercom and car to car) installed in my Sandwinder. I bought a male to male cable to plug in my IPOD to the system. I also have an XM Roady receiver that has the same line out plug for the external speaker. I got if for free when I bought the XM receiver I have in my street car.

Can I wire in the XM receiver for power and run it the same way as an IPOD on a PCI system or will the XM require a stereo unit to go through first?

Thanks, Walt

The XM unit will plug in exactly the same way as the Ipod. The PCI intercom unit should have an audio volume control. the XM should also have somewhat of a volume control, between the 2, you should find a comfortable level.

True, plus you have the volume on the headsets.

Talk to Gerado or Scott at PCI and they will get you what you need for your setup.

If you use an XM unit that has a volume control then you can just plug the mini jack into the XM directly. This would be something like the XM-2-Go unit.

If you do not have a volume control on your XM unit then you will need to use a seperate amplifier/volume control unit. PCI sells these. It adds another piect to the equation that will provide amplification and volume control for your XM.

IPOD's are going to all have volume control, (from my experience) and you will not need the adapter if you only plan to use that.

The volume control of the intercom will not be sufficient.

In my pre-runner I started with the XM-2-GO and did not have the line-amp. But in Mexico the built in antenna was so weak that I swtich to a smaller XM unit that has a smaller cradle and an external antenna.

Now I have the line-amp with a sperate volume control on it.

I use theMyfi which has the volume built in.

It plugs right in.

I have the XM delphi 2, the old tuner. I run it through a small amp that I bought from RAcer X. Works great and the amp will drive an external speaker for those stops for cold "sodas". Most XM units don't have enough power to run through the front input of the AVcomm units you need a stereo or an amp to drive the sound up enough to be heard.

here someone comes to piss on the parade!

what about hearing what's going on around you? are the v8 cars so loud that you couldn't hear another buggy/ rider near you anyways? I've always liked to hear what's going on with the car/truck/bike i'm riding or driving... listening for clanks, taps, knocks, etc....

nobody else sees this as a possible safety issue?
SPOOKYDUST
There are single sided headsets you can look into so only one ear is covered. Thereby, you can listen to your car with the other. 70.gif

If you want to lissen to the XM then make sure you get the speaker upgrade for the headsets, the speakers that come with the headsets are not ment for music and won't sound very good...

Hey Walt,
How and where did you end up mounting IPOD. I am getting PCI with IPOD interface plug in and was wondering how you mounted yours?
