This is why I stay away from bushes. I have a huge phobia of snakes. Have seen many many scorpions, but never any snakes. Thank god.

I've never seen a snake or scorpion at Glamis. Seen all the usual birds and plants thanks to Slappy showing me what to look for though. I've even seen a kangaroo rat which most people haven't seen. I couldn't count the fringes I've seen. I'll keep my eye out for snakes and scorps.

Just Scorpions and a black widow spider I think. They were hanging out together one day. Wanting to come inside my tent. They obviously didn't see the sign: KEEP OUT. Peace

I have never actually seen any snakes but I have seen plenty of sidewinder tracks. We always follow them to make sure there is a clear entry in and an exit path out of camp. So far we haven't been given the opportunity to have barbequed rattlesnake. I would hate to kill something edible and have it go to waste.

We always found rattlesnakes and scorpions at buttercup. Never seen any at Glamis.
I'm not a PW so I'll only post this once.

We've seen plenty of tarantulas, down by the canal.
We've had them cruise right through our camp right in front of us.
And there is a place by the canal road where you can sit on you bike or in your buggy and they'll come out and see what the heck is making the ground vibrate.
We've had 6 of them at one time walking all around us.

Geez, I completely misunderstood the topic title. I didn't know you were talking about the GOOD snakes, the ones that Glamis grows.
I thought this was about another silly publicity stunt by one of those anti-access groups. Now THOSE snakes are really annoying. I'd rather sleep with a sidewinder any day.

We watched a sidewinder cruising along the bushes down by the canal one day while taking a break. I think it was looking for lunch. Got to remember that rattlers of all sorts travel in pairs even though you don't see both of them most of the time.
My dog almost stepped on a scorpion at Roadrunner and started barking like crazy. She wasn't sure what the hell it was.
Haven't seen any vinagaroons there though, maybe Mojave desert is their place. They look like a cross between a scorpion and a spider and are about 1 1/2" across and sting like hell!

Had a fox come for dinner every trip for a year at Ogilby, one halloween before they closed the other side of the RR tracks we saw a bunch of the kangaroo rats. have seen a coyote running through the dunes between Test and Patton.
But as far as snakes haven't seen any sure Ive seen tracks and discarded skin but no liven breathin cold feelin live ones
